West Ashton is a small village set on a hill around 2 miles from Trowbridge. The village has a church and village hall. Trowbridge is the county town of Wiltshire and lies to the west of Salisbury Plain, close to the Somerset border and approximately 15 miles from Bath. It is considered the natural centre of West Wiltshire’s five small industrial towns and is now the third largest town in Wiltshire, after Salisbury and Chippenham. The town was once the centre of a thriving woollen industry and now boasts a main line station, from where you can take a trip into the beautiful, historic and cosmopolitan city of Bath, as well as offering a vibrant shopping centre. An easy drive takes you to the delightful town of Bradford-on-Avon, from where you can take boat trips along the Kennet and Avon Canal, or enjoy the delightful gardens of Bowood House. Further afield, but easily accessible, is Longleat House and its famous safari park, and the magnificent World Heritage Site of Stonehenge. These are just some of the wonderful attractions on offer, within easy reach of this interesting Wiltshire location.
