  • "A lovely cottage."

Facilities were very good, every thing you could want for a stay. Master bedroom is large and beds are very comfortable, plenty of extra bedding and towels. Kitchen is large and has everything you could need. There's 3 bedrooms, a sitting/games room, lounge, kitchen , laundry+ room and conservatory. Every thing was very clean. Lovely location for forest walks. I managed to blow a fuse by plugging in a faulty charger, the owner answered my call straight away and told me where the consumer unit was, so sorted. My one small comment would be there is only one en suite in the master bedroom, so other guest would have to go downstairs to use the toilet downstairs in the laundry/shower/toilet room or go into the master bedroom. Not a problem for us as only 2 of us stayed. Once again I have to say we loved your cottage and certainly recommend it thank you.

Clean and with good quality furnishings. Lots of space. Ideally located for the Forest of Dean Mountain Bike centre which is a 4 mile cycle from pippins , mostly off road, and the cottage also has a garage for bike storage.

  • "This is a cracking cottage."

Has 3 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms, 2 shower rooms and a large kitchen diner. Although there was only the 2 of us on this occasion, there is plenty of room for a family getaway. The facilities were spot on, everything you could ask for, like home from home. Log fire was a dream to ward off the chills of the evening, but to be fair we were lucky with the weather during the day for the week we were there. Although we didn't use the garden, it is very secluded and can see it being a lovely sun trap in summer - also enclosed so no issues with either little uns or dogs getting away from you. It's not detached, but we didn't have any issues with the neighbours or any noise when we were there - and lovely doris (sheep) and friends were there to greet us every time we came out of the cottage. There are many scenic walks from the doorstep, but it is a short walk to village pub and shops if you didn't want to venture far. Would I recommend this cottage? Yes indeed I would and if ever I want to return to the area, I know where I will look first.

  • "Had a fantastic week at Pippins."

The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well kitted out to cover all of our needs. Nice little welcome pack of wine & shortbread from the owners. Decent Chinese & chip shops close by, shop in the village & supermarket only a few miles away. Great base for exploring the area, and loved the sheep right outside the gate

  • "We thought the cottage was detached but was a semi."

The bathroom backed on to nextdoors small garden. The bathroom itself is very dated also a lot of the doubleglazing needs replacing as the seals have gone and are full of condensation. But the worst thing was all the sheep mess it was every where and you could not avoid treading in it. We sometimes had a dozen sheep sleeping right outside the front gate. There was no mention about the sheep mess in your information of course. We would not stay at Pippins again sorry!! David Basten

I am sorry that your stay was spoiled by the sheep. The sheep are allowed to graze in the Forest of Dean. It has been very hot and sunny recently and outside our front gate is a shady spot that they are therefore naturally drawn to. Recently there has been more sheep mess than usual and I have been clearing it regularly; but of course this only happen once a week. I have just checked the property details and I cannot find any mention of Pippins being detached. Strictly speaking I would say it is an end of terrace. You are quite correct that some of the double glazing panels need replacing and it is on the list of maintenance jobs....so thanks for reminding me! Property Owner

The cottage is comfortable and central to lots of attractions near by. Everything you need is provided and it's a nice touch having a welcome package and some log for the wood burner to get you started. Big garden for the kids to play in and some books and games to keep them occupied too. Beautiful area, we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to the Wye valley and the Forest of Dean.

  • "What a lovely cottage in a lovely location!"

The location is set in beautiful countryside and in a very quiet location- we weren’t disturbed by anyone around and in the mornings you could hear owls and birds from the windows. Sheep also love to roam free nearby! The cottage itself is incredibly spacious- our family of 6 all had plenty of room to move freely. There is an added bonus of the children’s playroom for them to break off into as well. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the added extra of a utility room and downstairs toilet is great. The log burning stove was so lovely to sit in front of and provided some nice extra warmth on the chillier nights. The owners have clearly taken the time to think of anything and everything that you could need in a home away from home and I can’t think of anything we wished we had with us. There’s a travel cot, baby bath and wooden highchair provided for babies which is much better than some other cottages we’ve been to. The downstairs toilet is the only toilet available for everyone to use as upstairs there’s an en suite- this was a bit tricky for our 3 year old to get to in the night so was a bit of a downside and the playroom doesn’t have a radiator so a bit cold- although the owners have got extra heaters that could have been used. Overall a great stay. Thank you

The house was lovely, spacious, well equipped, and comfortable. Above all it was very clean and it's clear the owners put a great deal of personal effort in to maintaining the house and its presentation. We we very happy with our stay here and appreciate the personal touch this house shows. As for the area, again, very impressed. There were so many things to do in and around Bream that we could happily have spent another week there. Excellent all round - Thanks!

Very clean, not cluttered - plenty of space for all our things, even with 4 adults a toddler and a baby! Having a travel cot, high chair and baby bath at the house meant we could travel lighter so greatly appreciated. Very useful info pack, map and leaflets. Short walk uphill to the village chippy, and near enough to Chepstow, Symonds yat, or over the bridge to bristol for lots of choice for day trips. The photos of the property don’t quite do it justice to how spacious and comfortable it is! We were able to relax and unwind from the hustle and bustle of normal life. The beds were very comfortable and it was a wonderful experience to wake up open the curtains and watch the sunrise over the forest. Everything you could need from a holiday cottage, highly recommended.

  • "We had a fantastic weekend stay at Pippins Cottage."

The cottage is bigger than it appears in the photos and it was very cosy and absolutely loved the wood burner. The only drawback for us was that the bed in the master bedroom was made up of two separate mattresses and kept falling into the middle. Other than that the cottage is in a lovely area and is very close to a selection of woods to walk through and explore. The sheep are free roaming in the area and are very friendly - they love a good carrot if you have any spare.

Thank you for your feedback about the bed. I am sorry to hear that you had problem with the master bed. Following your comments I had a look at it to see if something had broken. It all looked OK and I could not see how anything , let alone a person, could fall through. Glad you had a good stay apart from that. Property Owner

Boasting 3 good size bed rooms and benefitting from 2 lounges downstairs - one perfect for children - our 15 month old loved playing with his toys in his new play room. The kitchen was excellent and is well kitted out. There was an option of a high chair and travel cot, even a baby bath in the utility, which again shows that the owners have really thought about how to make the property feel like a home away from home. We loved the kitchen and the decor in the bedrooms especially. The lack of upstairs communal bathroom is fine once you get used to going up and down the stairs at night. The location is lovely right opposite an enclosure with sheep and with walking access in to the Forest of Dean. We hired bikes from Parkend which is walking distance and our grandparents were able to explore the area using their bus passes! Pippins was well equipped, comfortable and clean. The only inaccuracy about the info we we're given was that the local pub which we were led to believe normally did food, didn't, and hadn't for a while as they were awaiting the start of some renovations.
