Boasting lovely walks in every direction, Whitchurch has a thriving village shop and coffee shop selling locally sourced products, a pub and a restaurant. Just a short distance away is Symonds Yat, a pretty Herefordshire village, which straddles the River Wye, home to the magnificent natural limestone rock popular with wildlife enthusiasts and climbers, as well as a Butterfly Farm and Maze. The Royal Forest of Dean, England's largest oak forest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts many outdoor activities, including horseback riding, abseiling, caving, numerous cycle routes and a high wire rope course. Other activities on offer for the less energetic include fishing, golf and kayaking to name just a few. Close by is the pretty village of Goodrich with its 12th century Marcher Castle, village shop and two pubs both serving good food.
