  • "We had a lovely weekend at park stables."

Perfect for 3 couples, ideal location as a short drive to all the lovely Cotswold villages. Only suggestion would be letting guests know in advance that the nespresso machine takes the new style pods which are only available for purchase online. We would have ordered some to take with us had we known. All in all a great stay though; we are already discussing booking again

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Park Stables. It's wonderful to hear you had a lovely stay and thank you for the feedback. We will make a note online with regards to the type of Nespresso machine that is at the property for future guests. We hope to welcome you back again to make it stay number two in the future. • "Park stables is a nice holiday cottage to stay in the area of Cotswold."

The cottage itself is very nice, well equipped, have a lot of space and great fireplace! But it is located just on the very busy road and next to a car garage that just make a lot of noise, so if you are looking for a rural place to stay with a touch of country side, this is not a right place for that. Other than that, our stay was good and nice.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry to hear that the location was not as you expected. We list images and map locations for all to see. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We were a party of 4 occupying the two en-suite bedrooms and although generally comfortable, there were several problems with the bathrooms."

There was a leak in the waste pipe beneath the wash basin which soaked my wife’s wash bag. We were kept waiting on the ‘phone for over half an hour trying to report this to the owners, who eventually sent somebody out to fix the problem. The shower controls were temperamental in one of the rooms and there was no indication of how they should be operated. Both couples noticed the shower trays were close to overflowing when in use but we were disinclined to waste more of our time trying to report this. Attempts to recycle rubbish were thwarted. A collection of small black bins were already full when we arrived and there was nothing to indicate which type of rubbish each was designed to take. All in all, we paid a premium price for average accommodation. .

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're sorry to hear that you encountered some issues with the bathrooms and hope this didn't impact your stay too much as the problem was rectified during your stay. We have also noted your comments regarding the recycling which will be looked into. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

I would also say that a couple of the toilet seats were loose and there were no instructions regarding bin day.. I found it too difficult to contact owners, but this was probably due to my lack of knowledge with the phone system

Ideal for family holiday, garden access good for young child and dog. Unfortunately the Hoover head was very worn making it difficult to hoover, necessary when holidaying with children and pets. Property is not in Wyck Risslington as advertised, but in Wyck Beacon, Upper Risslington. Road was very busy and unable to go for walks directly from the property.

  • "Hi, we had a really great stay and would come back again."

The property itself was really comfortable, clean, well-equipped, all the things we wanted. The only downside was the location opposite the car repair yard who kept burning oil (and maybe tires?) which regularly caused acrid smoke to drift our way - I knew that the property was away from the pristine Cotswold villages and built alongside a working farm, but that was a bit unpleasant. Also, property would greatly benefit from the addition of a barbecue!

Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay at Park Stables. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and hope that the repair yard adjacent did not leave a lasting impact on your stay. We hope to welcome you again one day in the future and appreciate your suggestions for improvement! Best wishes, Manor Cottages. Property Owner

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Park Stables and its location within The Cotswolds. We are pleased you found the property to be so well equipped. Thank you for your comments, which have been noted. In a rural location, occasional smells are unavoidable. In hot weather, we are happy to provide extra fans if you call our office. It was very kind of the neighbour to help you out with the water. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

Very clean, we'll set out and comfy. The only small comments are that 6pm is too late a check in, even with COVID cleaning in mind, and as others had commented, the bedrooms need more draw space/shelving in wardrobes. However those aspects did not detract from a wonderful break in a lovely home. Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a constructive feedback, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay. Regarding the check in time we are rethinking them now and hopefully we can make it a bot earlier n the future. we will forward your comments to the owner. The kitchen was very well equipped and had all the essentials we needed and more. The showers are powerful and the bed was very comfy. The only small negative was the lack of drawer space in the bedrooms. There was plenty of hanging space but they could really benefit from perhaps one less chair and a chest of drawers instead. Would definitely recommend the property and hope to visit again at some point : )

  • "We had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 night stay at Park Stables."

The property was immaculately clean, with lovely, comfortable decor and furnishings. The log fire was a bonus at this time of year (logs available just next door at Phipp Feeds) and the kitchen was really well kitted out. Overall we had a great time - it's location was perfect for trips out to Burford, Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water, and there was plenty of nearby footpaths and bridleways for walks with our two dogs. The only point worth mentioning is that whilst the garden is secure for larger dogs, smaller ones (like ours) would have found it easy to slip under the fence and the road was surprisingly busy at times. But not a big deal - we just had to keep them on their leads and watch them carefully. We would definitely think about returning in the future.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and have added information regarding the fence and dogs onto the listing. We hope to welcome you back any time in the future. Property Owner

The kitchen was fully equipped. The bathrooms were large and the showers powerful. The bed were very comfortable and there was plenty of comfortable seating. One thing to note was the 3rd bedroom’s bathroom was not en-suite. The cottage was really clean. The windows could have done with a clean as there were children’s handprints all over them, this did not detract from the holiday but was surprising due to the cleanliness everywhere else. In the master bedroom ensuite, first morning shower water was cold. This was corrected speedily by the owner but for the rest of the week there was no hot water in the washbasin. The owner came twice to deal with airlock but we still had same problem throughout. No hot water in kitchen tap and twin bedroom ensuite was corrected by owner after first day. Also in that shower room we had problems with ants but was corrected after first couple of days with spray. The boiler in cupboard in master bedroom is very noisy when anyone using bath or shower. BUT once the water issues are corrected it will meet expectations as very spacious and well furnished and equipped.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm very sorry to hear that you experienced such issues with the water at the property. As you reported this issue at the time, the owner was able to do his best to rectify it. This should not be a problem for future guests and we sincerely apologise for the impact this must have had on your stay. Unfortunately, being based in the Cotswolds in the height of summer, we are seeing a high level of unwelcome creepy crawlies finding their way inside the properties. As you said, this can only really be dealt with by use of insecticide sprays and the like. I'm glad that you found the other aspects of the property suited your party and you were able to enjoy the rest of your time spent there. Property Owner

The water tank in master bedroom is very noisy & kept us awake most of the night. There is definitely major plumbing issues that need maintenance. Also there are no rails or grab handles in the shower so not disabled friendly. This needs urgent action as very dangerous for the elderly. Also we had zero cold water for @ 8hrs due to more plumbing issues low pressure for most of our stay. This was our 3rd visit & the cleanliness has dropped off. This is worrying as deep cleaning is required between each rental due to Covid & we are not allowed access on check in until 6pm due to this deep clean. Any furniture I moved was dirty behind it & there certainly hadn’t been any hoovering under beds as there was old dust! I also found someone’s dirty socks down back of chair in lounge so clearly the sofas hadn’t been hoovered properly. The cleanliness needs addressing immediately. With regards to further improvements - it would be nice to have comfortable outside patio chairs or loungers as we had to take the lounge chairs into garden on a hot day as nothing comfortable was provided.

Many thanks for your feedback on Park Stables and we are sorry to hear you had issues with the water at the property. We will of course look into this and take any action that is required. In terms of the cleaning we will raise this with our housekeeping team. We endeavor to make sure the properties are spotless for each guest and apologies that the cleanliness was not up to standard on this occasion. Property Owner

It was spacious, very clean and had most things that we needed. Lovely dog walk on the Oxfordshire Way, just down the road, which led to Bourton on the Water. Lovely and warm for the chilly days we had. Just a few things that I would change, but minor and did not affect our enjoyment: a full length mirror needed, an extra lamp at far end of lounge and we couldn’t find the clothes airer which was stated as being in the main bedroom wardrobe. There are plenty of places to sit inside, but it could do with a couple of chairs to sit in outside rather than the picnic bench. I was surprised at how busy the road was, but this means it’s quick to get into Bourton-on-the-Water or Stow-on-the-Wold, and the local Co-op is 1/2 mile away which we used a lot ! We cooked a few times & the kitchen was well equipped. The third bedroom really needs a wardrobe, a row of hooks on the wall isn’t enough. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

when using the cooker the fan oven did not work which was a bit of a problem and we phoned the housekeeper who said she would report it to the owner. we never heard anymore from herr the owner, having looked back on previous reviews we understand this is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. the dishwasher also had a bit of a problem it had a problem getting crockery clean even with good dishwasher tablets, cooker-hood also needed a very good clean on top. recycling was also a problem not enough bags for food waste, and not knowing when it was emptied in outside bin.

Thank you for your review, we welcome feedback so that we can try to improve the experience for our guests during their stay. To address your points in turn; - this is the first time a smell in bathrooms has been reported but we will double check this prior to future guests arriving. - we are sorry that the lighting in the lounge was not to your taste, given the large windows along the front of the room we had hoped this would create a pleasant ambiance. There is a standing lamp which could be moved to provide additional lighting if required in a certain area. - in respect of cleanliness, we will ensure a deep clean is organised again. - two recent guests have reported that the cooker fan was not working. For your stay and the previous guests stay we organised an engineer to look at the cooker and he determined no issues could be found. We now understand that the cause of the issue is that the “defrost” setting was being chosen rather than the “fan”, we have now laminated a cooker instruction card to ensure that the instructions are clearer for future guests. - we understand there was an issue with the timer on the dishwasher that was addressed during your stay. We will also run it through another cycle to ensure the dishwasher is working correctly now. - we will double check that instructions on the bins are clear, the council instructions stating which type of waste to put in each bin are provided, food waste goes into the two caddies provided and there is no need to guests to worry about collection dates as the owners put bins out on appropriate days for collection. We are sorry you encountered these problems during your stay and thank you for bringing the dishwasher and cooker issues to our notice during your stay. We would encourage all our guests to let us know, during the stay if possible, if there are any issues so that we can try to address the problem during the stay. Property Owner

The property

Bourton-on-the-Water 3.3 miles.

For families and groups, old or young Park Stables is absolutely spot on, ideal.

We love it!

Set in the heart of the Cotswold's most popular region it is within a very short drive of the most well known locations (Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton on the Water).

It also has a couple of very good pubs, The Lamb at Great Rissington called The Feathered Nest at Westcote are both within 5 mins drive, so in short you have everything here to create an enjoyable and memorable holiday.

Recently renovated the barn, which is all on one level, is super comfy thanks to its abundance of space and quality of furnishings.

So, just relax and spread out as you will feel right at home here.

Mega-well insulated its cosy (with the all important wood burner) and gorgeous in winter, yet fling open the doors and windows and you can let the fresh country-air flood in.

There's plenty of seating for lounging, a large dining table for hearty meals which you can whip up in the slick kitchen.

The bedrooms are spacious (to the say the least) and with three bathrooms, you each get your space and privacy.

Outside is a small, but perfectly adequate garden with lashings of parking.

The property is in a beautiful countryside located next to a working farm, with great walks nearby including the wonderful renowned Oxfordshire Way.

Heavenly and perfectly quintessential Cotswolds! BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
