  • "We have had a most enjoyable week at Corner Cottage for a 75th birthday."

Good communications with the owner via email with lots of local information was sent prior to our arrival which was handy. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and we all enjoyed the homemade cakes, bread and fresh eggs and all the little touches like the flowers on the table, the bowl of fresh fruit, hot water bottles and the mini toiletries were all lovely little touches. The cottage was lovely and spacious but still had a lovely warm cozy feel and the log fire added to the experience. The games room wih pool, darts and table tennis was enjoyed by all the family from age 12 to 75 and also a good slection of board games, jigsaws and books. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location, but in close proximity to lots of nice places. We enjoyed going over to the yard opposite the cottage each day to see the horses and chickens and friendly cats. We would certainly recommend Colliers Cafe for a nice meal or to pick up some local produce in the attached farm shop. Fresh milk and milkshakes at Gydford house is also recommended. Overall we had a lovely week and 100% recommend and we hope to return in the near future.

  • "From the youngest, just turned 7, to the oldest, just turned 80, all 6 of us had a great holiday at The Corner House."

The bonus for the boys was the games room where we all had a go at darts, pool or table tennis. There was every piece of kitchen equipment that anyone could wish for and the homemade cake left for us was absolutely delicious. Ivo loved the blue shelled egg which had the date it was laid written on it - his birthday - and enjoyed it for breakfast one morning. The house was always lovely and warm to wake up to and to welcome us back each evening. I don’t think we could have chosen a better place to stay for access to all nearby (40 mins at most) attractions - Blist Hill, Ironbridge, Ludlow, Hereford, Worcester (Noah’s Tudor House research) Tenbury Wells, the Safari Park …..

This home is in such a tranquil setting, the house itself is clean and tidy with plenty of space and provides everything you need for a getaway. We made good use of the games room and loved the extra touches like fresh flowers on the table, complimentary fresh eggs, bread, butter and cakes! The hosts were happy for us to leave a car parked on the driveway before our check-in time so we could explore Worcester in one car. All greatly appreciated, we 100% recommend this house!

  • "I stayed at the Corner House in September with three old school friends, we were looking for somewhere comfortable just to have a catch up ( we try to do this yearly as we all Iive some distance from each other) and came across The Corner House."

I can’t emphasise enough how good this place is, down a quiet country lane but just a 15 minute drive from Stourport. The facilities are first rate and the owners left us some essentials for when we arrived , bread, butter, milk eggs and a few other items, which was very much appreciated. The house is incredibly comfortable and well equipped. We had plenty of fun with the pool table and dart board, we’d forgotten how bad we all were at both. There are two shower rooms, well equipped kitchen, large dining table, four comfy bedrooms ( although the single bedroom can only be accessed by going through one of the doubles, no big deal). You definitely need a car as there are no shops nearby ( apart from a small Spar as part of a garage) but a short drive to the large Tesco in Stourport will see you well stocked up. The owners also sent us a three, A4, page guide, to just about everything we needed to know, before we arrived, which was very useful. All of us would thoroughly recommend The Corner House and its excellent owners !

  • "The Corner House is a beautiful place to stay."

It’s one of the rare places with enough rooms for a large family and so well equipped that you don’t feel any pressure to go out. The pool/snooker table kept the teens engaged and the rooms are large enough for them to get some privacy. We found we had no mobile signal however the owners have thoughtfully provided a good internet connection which is essential as we found a lot of attractions now only accept pre-booking. When we arrived there was everything we needed after a long journey. Tea, coffee, milk and homemade cake, there was also bread and butter and fresh fruit. This really helped after the stress of UK motorways during the summer holidays! The location is beautiful, the gardens are lovely, the area is close to so many many places of interest. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again.

The cleanliness of the house was seen all over the house and a great thaught has gone into making it a home away from home ..our 5 year old grandson enjoyed the games room together with the grown ups ..the west midlands safri is only 20 mins away which I highly recommend for family's . The bell pub is a few min drive perfect for a pint after a day of exploring .did not try the food so I can't comment .heating is in every room ...but we were lucky because we had the hottest week for april ...the heat was too much at times in the house ...was afraid to leave Windows open because there were bees and wasps around Windows ...I don't think I would stay in the summer there for that reason . Be careful not to break anything ! I was charged an arm and a leg for accidentally breaking a lid from a cake stand ! I know what you break you need to pay for but to be charged more than it's worth is not nice . This was the only problem I had really regarding the house . Margaret Malta

This is one of the best places we have stayed in and we cannot recommend this enough - it was a brilliant break and we hope to return some point in the future.Thank you.

  • "This was our second visit to The Corner House as it is perfect for us and our friends from Kent."

The welcome you receive from the owner is such a lovely touch. Homemade cakes, delicious bread, free range eggs, milk, butter etc. The house is warm and welcoming and very clean. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for any cooking you may want to do. One of the main attractions for us is the games room which boasts a pool table (which can also be used as a table tennis table) and a darts board which for teenagers and competitive husbands is great for wet days and evenings in! The house is within walking distance of the local pub The Bell which serves great pub grub and a selection of ales. A longer walk away is The Manor Arms Inn which although a little more expensive has an extensive menu and again serves cask ales. Both well worth a visit. All in all a lovely holiday home from home!

  • "Unfortunately our trip was cut short as everyone had to go home on the Sunday."

The Corner House is a delightful property, very comfortable and cosy. Has a lovely kitchen/dining room and a games room (slight smell of petrol). Would happily return for another visit. However, the no cancellation policy on Sykes is off-putting.

The attention to detail inside the cottage was superb. So many places to visit around there not enough days to do it all, would love to return perhaps one day. P.s wish I had a kitchen like that.

About the location

PENSAX

Stourport-on-Severn 7.5 miles; Worcester 14 miles.

The scattered village of Pensax rests amongst beautiful Worcestershire countryside on the northern slopes of Abberley Hill, equidistant between Worcester and Tenbury. Recorded in the Domesday Book nearly 1000 years ago, the village now offers two traditional pubs, both serving excellent food and real ale. Close by is the pretty village of Great Witley, home to Witley Court, a palatial 19th century mansion encased in landscaped gardens with impressive fountains. Nestling of the banks of the River Severn is the popular town of Stourport-on-Severn, which offers an abundance of cafes, shops, and charming black and white timbered buildings. The Wyre Forest straddles the borders of Worcestershire and Shropshire and is one of the largest woodlands in the country, much of which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest with the remainder listed as a Nature Reserve. The forest is home to a vast array of wildlife, including wild woodland birds, moths and adders, as well as a web of excellent footpaths and cycle routes, pony trekking opportunities and a discovery centre. The attractive market town of Bewdley, once described as 'the most perfect Georgian town in Worcestershire' is just a short drive away, nestling on the banks of the River Severn and offering a good choice of amenities including individual shops, antique and craft galleries. The magnificent Malvern Hills provide a 9-mile range of ancient rock, where you will find many miles of bridleways offering superb, far-reaching views stretching in all directions. This area has some of the best attractions in the country with the Severn Valley Railway, West Midlands Safari Park, many National Trust properties as well as numerous riverside festivals, regattas and open-air concerts. Or for a taste of the city, it is an easy 50-minute drive into central Birmingham. A wonderful choice for your holiday.
