Sleepy Hollow

We stayed over Christmas and Claire and Colin had decorated it for us.

We had a fantastic time there, whilst the bedrooms are a bit small, the downstairs with the extension was very comfortable and having the log fire was so cosy on a cold winter’s night. It is easy to walk to 3 pubs and Ironbridge, so it is a brilliant place to e polite the gorge. The nearby Jackfield Tile museum is worth a visit.

Fabulous cottage in perfect location, so quiet and relaxing.

Unfortunately due to cold weather we didn't sit in the garden but it would be lovely to sit and watch the river. Welcome hamper was very much appreciated and generous. Cottage was spotlessly clean, warm, comfy beds, powerful shower, amazing log fire (we took our own logs but plenty were provided and you could easily buy more on a honesty box basis). We found parking to be fine in a Toyota Yaris . If you park at Jackfield Tile Museum take the road opposite (Church Road) and by the Church Road name sign there is a footpath and on the left you will see iron handrail (the path down from the railings will take you to the cottage). Easy walk into Ironbridge on the flat (about a mile). Black Swan pub is 5 minute walk and serves lovely food and is very friendly and welcoming. Yvonne and Steve

We had a lovely stay at Sleepy Hollow.

It was very quiet and relaxing. Enjoyed discovering the secret garden and watching the river flow by. The cottage was very well equipped, cosy and comfortable. We appreciated the lovely welcome hamper too. Lots of extra touches which contributed to a lovely stay. Also in walking distant of the local pub which served traditional pub grub!

Sleepy Hollow is a very Charming cottage.

The inside of the property is clean and spacious throughout. Everything is in good condition, the place is well equipped. The garden is truly a selling point of the cottage. Lying on the banks of the River Severn, you can watch the world go by. There are lovely walks around the area. Ironbridge is only a short walk away from the property. If you like a bit of retail therapy Telford shopping precinct has it all. Also, a nice viewing drive into Bridgnorth is a must see. Thank you again Colin and Claire Mandy and Martin

Lovely quirky property with the best welcome pack we have ever had !

Cottage has everything you could possibly need and very comfortable bed. Loved the secret garden and enjoyed a glass of wine there each evening watching the river flow by. We walked to all the museum and attractions of Ironbridge and we saw them all over 3 days as so much to take in . As a result we ran out of time to do southern Shropshire during our weeks stay ! So pleased we found Sleepy Hollow and highly recommend.

Sleepy Hollow has been one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

It has a very homely feeling from the moment you step inside, made even more so by the wonderful welcome pack provided by Colin and Claire, who have equipped the cottage to a very high standard. We completely agree that it is quirky, but that’s what makes it so inviting, and such a lovely place to stay. The stairs are unusual to say the least, but not a problem to negotiate, and yes the bedrooms are small, but are definitely big enough for a holiday stay with plenty of wardrobe space in both bedrooms. It’s location is excellent, easy walking distance to Ironbridge, and most of the museums run by the Ironbrige Gorge museum trust, which are all worth visiting. We would certainly recommend Sleepy Hollow and will definitely be returning.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable week.

The welcome goodies were a real treat. Probably one of the best equipped cottages we have ever stayed at and we were comfortably warm when the evenings turned chilly. Well located to enable us to visit most of the local attractions without using the car and to enjoy an evening walk along the pleasant footpaths. Found it easier to park at the Tile Museum, a short walk away from the cottage.

The property is cosy with good kitchen facilities and comprehensive welcome pack.

Didn't like the overgrown track down to the cottage. Would recommend taking a torch. A good base for visiting many different places of interest.

If you want to explore Ironbridge Gorge and all it has to offer, it is hard to imagine that you could find a better property than Sleepy Hollow for location and comfort.

All the museums are within walking distance. We only used our car once during the week, that was to visit the excellent RAF museum at Cosford. The cottage is very well equipped and the welcome pack that was left for us was the best that we have ever had in all the many cottage holidays we have had. We were lucky with the weather and it was very pleasant to sit in the garden with a glass of wine and watch the river drift past. We have a small car, Fiat 500, so parking by the cottage wasn't an issue for us. The alternative parking at Jackfield Tile Museum is only a very short walk away if you have a large vehicle. We could only think of one improvement. A thermostatic shower fitting with a rail that lets you adjust the height of the shower head. We felt that we wasted a lot of water, and gas, getting the shower temperature right every time we used it. One of the best cottages we have stayed in, and a credit to owners Claire and Colin.

Beautiful, warm, cosy cottage right by the river and easily one of the best equipped properties we have stayed in.

The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need to have a relaxed and enjoyable holiday. The cottage is wonderfully situated with easy walking to Ironbridge and local pubs. We parked our second car at Jackfield Tile Works as suggested - it was an easy and very short walk back to the cottage. As a group of 4 walkers we would thoroughly recommend Sleepy Hollow and individually hope to return to explore more thoroughly the industrial heritage of the area. The cottage offered great living space with well equipped kitchen and good size dining area as well as comfortable lounge.

The bedrooms however were a tight squeeze but hey this is an old cottage and added to the character. The stair were fine and easily manageable. In November with cooler weather the cottage was warm and pleasant to stay. It was a shame we could not utilize the garden area which looked inviting due to the time of year. Parking was not an issue although the approach down an unmade lane was interesting and thank goodness we did not have to walk the lane as there was a short path from the cottage up to the road. Good walks from the cottage and handily placed for local pubs who do good food in both directions. Great location for exploring Ironbridge Gorge and the surrounding area and recommend a visit to Wroxeter roman city then onto Shrewsbury. Also Much Wenlock is a good trip with a visit to the Priory as well as Buildwas Abbey close by. For those energetic, a walk up The Wrekin is worthwhile for the views.

This was our first visit to Shropshire, and so we were really pleased to find Sleepy Hollow the perfect base to explore the lovely countryside, numerous museums, and lovely nearby towns.

The lovely water-side garden was fantastic to chill at the end of a day out, but it was also great that there were two nice pubs just a few minutes walk away in each direction. The Cottage was really cosy and well-equipped, and the welcome basket was a lovely addition. We'll definitely be recommending to friends.

Excellent location, right at the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge.

Easy access to pretty much anywhere in the area, we walked everywhere. Pubs galore, nice and quiet, pleasant chatty neighbours, great welcome basket and a very relaxing place to come back to at the end of a busy day. Sleepy Hollow has everything you need! Parking spot was fine for our Fiesta but could prove tricky for anything larger and access was a little tight, although you could choose to park a larger or 2nd vehicle adjacent to the Tile Museum with no issues. We really enjoyed our stay!

My sister and I had a glorious time in Sleepy Hollow.

It’s a lovely little cottage perfect for visiting Ironbridge and the surrounding area. Cottage is well equipped and very comfy. We enjoyed having our breakfast outside every morning and sitting in the garden of an evening in the gorgeous sunshine. We will definitely be back.

But only a short drive away from many attractions worth visiting. I would recommend Sleepy hollow.

Quirky, full of featrures in a good sense. With one of the best welcome baskets ever, including home baked bread. Great walks both into Ironbridge along level disused railway tracks, or the opposite way along the Severn to Coalport etc.

Overall excellent - 1 thing I would add is access to IPlayer etc with a Google Chromecast eg.

Other than that best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. Lovely and warm. Nice rouches with excellent welcome pack and great for dogs. 10/10

A quaint cottage which is beautifully presented and very well equipped.

Best welcome pack I have experienced, very thoughtful. The property is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to the stairs and cottage access. The track is narrow and limited turning and parking so very large cars would struggle. Cannot fault the accommodation, first class.

Sleepy Hollow is a cosy and comfortable cottage.

It was clean, well-equipped and had some very nice touches. It is in a good location and the lovely village of Ironbridge is within easy walking distance, as are other attractions. Highly recommended.

Lovely little cottage and the position was ideal for walks along the river, walking to Ironbridge, Maws Craft Centre and local pubs and museums.

However, the unmade road leading up to the cottage had quite a few potholes and it was an 'experience' every time we drove along it! We love the area and will be back.

A deceptively light little cottage.

Superbly situated for walking into Ironbridge and the numerous museums around the area. The welcome basket for the dog and one for ourselves was a lovely touch. The property is clean and comfortable and the instructions are easy to follow. We all had a lovely stay.

Its our third time at the cottage so we must like it.

Great location, nice a quite with a nice lounge and kitchen, where you can relax and feel at home. Nice separate garden area (across the path) overlooking the river, where you can sit and have a wee glass of something. Lots of nice walks around the area, and you are just a 20 walk along the old railway to get to Iron bridge.

Sleepy Hollow is an absolute little gem of a cottage.

Far more than a holiday let, a real home from home. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, there are even towels for your dog and a basket full of bowls, brush, poo bags and toys in case you forgot to pack your dog’s own. Jackfield is a lovely little village with great walks on your doorstep. Only 1 mile walk into Ironbridge with the fabulous bridge and local shops, pubs and tearooms. The welcome pack provided by Claire and Colin was the best I’ve ever had consisting of delicious local produce including marmalade, apple juice, bacon, sausages, eggs, milk, bread and butter. Will definitely return for a second stay! Thank you so much

Second time staying at Sleepy Hollow which is unusual as we tend to look for a different location and don't repeat.

Lovely little cottage in a great location, quiet with a short walk to pubs and then into Iron Bridge. You get well looked after with a welcome pack and all the information required to enjoy the area. Will be back again.

Sleepy Hollow is a pretty and very well equipped cottage in a tranquil spot but ideally situated to access all the local sights.

There are plenty of very nice pubs overlooking the river in easy walking distance as well as the shops and cafes of Ironbridge itself. We found the area to be particularly dog friendly and generally friendly all round. The cottage is spacious and comfortable with all ‘mod cons’ without losing any of its old world charm. The cottage has some steep steps so definitely not suitable for the less mobile or young children.The sectret garden was so lovely overlooking the river and the patio furniture was functional but it would have been nice to have a comfortable deck chair or lounger as the weather was too hot to take the dog out all day so we spent a fair bit of time there. The welcome pack is spectacular with everything you need for a lovely breakfast and all wonderful local produce. There was even a big bunch of sweetpeas,gorgeous! Hope to revisit the cottage and would definitely recommend.

Lovely cottage and excellent COVID precautions made you feel safe.

The cottage was wonderfully warm and cosy and quirky.

We loved coming back to the cottage after days out and relax. That's how we felt - relaxed. Lovely pot of jam and Apple juice and milk in the fridge awaited us on arrival - brilliant, much appreciated. The owners left instructions throughout tthe cottage during this awful climate which helped. We would definitely return to this delightful cottage.

The cottage was perfect and the owners did everything possible to make us feel both welcome and safe, given the current situation with Covid 19.

The cottage was really great everything was very good the sitting room was comfortable and cosy.

This cottage is very quirky (in a good sense) and cosy, and very well equippped, with the owners obviously taking a lot of care to make it very welcoming.

Part of this is an especially wonderful welcome basket. It was our second stay and we would highly recommend it for those wishing to go to Ironbridge, especially those who like to walk a little since there is a very nice stroll into town along a disused railway track.

We loved staying in this period cottage with all of it's quirky features.

Although there are beams, open fires & stone floors, the cottage owners have gone out of their way to fit modern facilities with a fantastic full range which is ideal for cooking up the local Shropshire produce provided in the generous welcome pack! The cottage is situated close to Ironbridge & it's museums which is ideal; for avid geocachers like ourselves, there are walks from the doorstep across the beautiful gorge so we left the car behind for most of the week! We had deep snow for a few days so were very pleased to come back to the warmth of this cosy cottage-we will be booking again!

Everything, lt was the loveliest most characterful cottage we have stayed in, in 40 years of holidaying all over Britain, the only little criticism was the log fire, we were hopeless at keeping it alight, but luckily we only needed ito on 2 evenings, but we got very dirty!

The area is marvelous for visiting other beautiful towns, and the Ironbridge museums are fabulous. We do intend to return in the future.

Garden needs attention very over grown seating table and umbrella need replacing.

The cottage is so lovely all the home comforts you could ever want.

Spotless clean and well stocked . Beautfull place well situated for peace and quiet and tranquil surroundings. Good communication between owner and myself very helptull . Welcome box was so lovely
