About the location
Bridgnorth 5 miles; Much Wenlock 13 miles; Ironbridge 17 miles; Shrewsbury 24 miles.
Wooton is a small rural hamlet set in beautiful Shropshire countryside 5 miles from the market town of Bridgnorth. Bridgnorth itself lies in two distinct halves - The High Town and the Low Town, connected by winding streets and flights of steps, or there is always the steep funicular railway for more weary travellers. A bustling Saturday street market provides an ample excuse to explore the town and examine the castle ruins. Flowing below is the River Severn, with many pleasant riverside walks. The Severn Valley Railway runs between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster, and runs a variety of steam and diesel engines through picturesque country stations. In the areas surrounding Bridgnorth there are a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and picturesque Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to The Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, and Ironbridge Gorge, a World Heritage Site, with its 10 museums and striking landscape. The area offers excellent walking, and with the popular destinations of Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton within easy reach, it is ideal for a visit any time of the year.
