About the location

BELLHARBOUR, COUNTY CLARE

Ballyvaughan 5 miles; Kinvara 9 miles; Ennis 25 miles.

Bellharbour is a quiet and tranquil Irish village situated on the most easterly point of Ballyvaughan Bay and only nine miles from the picturesque seaside village of Kinvara in south County Galway. Kinvara is located on the edge of the world renowned ‘Burren', on Galway Bay. The entrance into Kinvara is marked by Dunguaire Castle, where medieval banquets are still hosted, and the quaint harbour still holds working examples of 'Galway Hookers', the majestic sailing craft which used to sell their wares between Connemara & Kinvara. Home to numerous pubs, shops and eateries, and hosting two festivals celebrating culture and heritage each year, there is no shortage of things to do in Kinvara. The nearby Aillwee Caves make for a great family day out and the coastal village of Ballyvaughan where the Burren Way Walk starts is only 5 miles away from Bellharbour. The small city of Galway, affectionately known as the "city of festivals", with its pretty alleyways and colourful nightlife is within easy reach, and only a little further is Burren National Park where animals and plant life are abundant, and there are numerous walking opportunities. A wonderful location, at any time of the year.
