Mountshannon has a small harbour facing south onto the Lough, and a safe family bathing area, as well as a small but well-maintained park with lough views. There is easy access to Inish Cealtra, or Holy Island, from the village, and tours around the island are provided. On Inish Cealtra are church ruins, stone crosses, and a cemetery which is still in use.
