The village of Glencar is located right in the centre of the region of Kerry otherwise known as The Kingdom. Glencar is a nature lover’s paradise surrounded by the mountain range Macgillycuddy Reeks, with Carrantouhill, Ireland’s highest mountain, majestically towering overhead. With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes, such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. An abundance of wild and birdlife can be found in the area, including pheasant, duck, wood pigeon, mink, fox, mountain hare, wild goat and sika deer. The village is home to three pubs, including The Climbers' Inn, which offers good food and drink, and a Post Office and food store.
