About the location

Dungloe 8 miles.

The small village of Doochary in County Donegal, meaning 'the black weir', is situated in the Rosses area of Donegal. Doochary offers a shop, pub and a Post Office, plus the Gweebarra River meanders through the village. The shop and road signs in Doochary are in Gaelic, as this is the main language spoken here and the village won the tidy towns competition in 1996 and 1997. The River Gweebarra is a fisherman's haven and close by is the Dooey Strand, which boasts two miles of golden sands. Just eight miles away is the town of Dungloe, known as 'The Capital of The Rosses' and boasting shops, bars, restaurants and events throughout the year. Doochary is a delightful base from which to explore this wonderful area.
