Terryglass is a village set in the northern part of County Tipperary with the Irish translation - Tír Dhá Ghlas meaning "land of the two streams". Terryglass offers two pubs and behind Paddy’s Pub is a wall, which once belonged to an abbey. The village has two historic wells – the ‘Eyewell’ and the ‘Headache well’, which are both said to have healing powers, plus every August the Terryglass Arts Festival takes place. The county has excellent attractions, including Lough Derg, which is the third largest lough in Ireland and is ideal for sailing and fishing, and there are boat trips on offer visiting Holy Island. Further afield is the Portumna Castle and Gardens and the large towns of Nenagh and Thurles are within driving distance with the latter boasting a cathedral and museum. The county has some historic sites, including the Rock of Cashel castle, the Ormonde Castle, which is situated next to the River Suir and the Cahir Castle, one of Ireland’s largest castles. A superb location for experiencing a perfect Irish getaway.
