Foxford is a delightful town situated on the River Moy in County Mayo. Foxford is well known as a tourist centre and has a variety of traditional pubs, restaurants and shops. Nestled between the Ox and Nephin Mountains, the town caters for a range of outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking and fishing. The Foxford Way is an 86km long trail which takes in the Ox Mountains, archaeological sites, boglands and river banks. For fishing enthusiasts, the River Moy offers salmon fishing, whilst nearby Loughs Conn and Cullin provide opportunities for Brown Trout fishing. Further afield are the towns of Ballina and Castlebar and the Ballycroy National Park, all suitable for a day trip.

Just a short drive from this Foxford cottage is the superb secluded beach of Lacken Sands as well as the seaside resort town of Enniscrone, a great day out for the kids. Hikers can enjoy mountains, rivers, lakes and breathtaking scenery along the renowned Foxford Way, a fantastic 50 mile-long walking track, perhaps stopping in Foxford, Straide or the pretty fishing village of Pontoon for a pint of the black stuff to quench your thirst along the way! Take in the wonderfully distinctive earthy aroma of the traditional Irish turf fires as you explore the area, before returning home to build your own in the hearth of this wonderful Foxford cottage.
