Bathroom showing signs of age,as when we stayed last year you said you was about to re furbish, good to see garden fully enclosed, had trouble getting hot water for 2 , couldn't get wi fi internet, unfortunately dog hairs on bedroom carpet had to hoover up, back door reveal was full of dirt and hair, lounge furniture could do with up grading to something more comfortable, it wasn't as clean as it was the year previously, and could do with airing before guest arrive as there was a damp smell on arrival , having said all this it wasn't a totally disappointed break , just needs a bit of tlc

Thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear about your disappointing trip. I understand that the maintenance people were on hand and resolved your issues straight away. The cottage is being closed in mid November for the new bathroom to be installed.Due to the high volume of bookings, it’s been a challenge to find a date. Both the settee and chair were purchased new this year so I am surprised by your comment but appreciate each customer has different expectations. I have passed on your comments re the cleaning as we have never had a problem in the past. Thank you Debbie Property Owner

Thank you for your feedback. There is a number in the book which you can call for any issues. We will get the door looked at. With regards to the fence, there is a temporary one in place. We are having a permanent fence put up on 12th June. Most of our customers have well behaved dogs so this has never been needed, but we have decided to have one put up for those dogs who like to wander. Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately the freezer and tumble dryer were not available."

The heating may be sufficient for summer time but when temperatures are 10 or 12 degrees it’s nice to come back to warmth and not have to wait for sensitive heaters to recognise your presence. On our first morning we found that the Emerson heater was switched off so no hot water. If the owners attitude to heating the property changed it would be a very comfortable venue.

This is disappointing feedback. My husband did inform you that the freezer/dryer would be unavailable for a couple of days whilst the electrician set up the new building with the said appliances. He did offer for you to use our dryer and freezer which you declined. There is an emersion heater which is on a timer in the bathroom. Unfortunately this can be changed from time to time by our guests. Heating is put on the day that guests are arriving. You spoke to us on several occasions during your stay and at no time did you mention there were issues with the heating. If you had, we would have gone out of our way sort something out for you. • "The property was better than listed as it has recently been decorated and a new king size bed, sitting room furniture and TV installed."

We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Ideally situated for visiting the many lovely coastal towns and footpaths or for venturing onto Exmoor. We found the radiators very responsive when we switched them on and the cottage was quickly warmed to a comfortable temperature. Lovely sized garden with seating at both front and back to make the most of the sunshine. Our host made us feel very welcome and we would happily recommend the property.

  • "Apparently, following some redecoration, the property had been left without heat for some days and was very cold and still with out any heating on when we arrived."

In our view, the electric wall mounted heaters would never be adequate in early spring, winter and late autumn mainly because of the high pitched ceilings in the living room and bedroom[i.e. heat rises].The wood burning stove is nice idea and very fashionable but, in practise, was difficult to light and 'ate' wood with out adding much to the warmth of the main living and sleeping areas. If the current system is going to be retained we suggest in the cold season a good electric fan heater is provided in lieu of the log burner. We,in fact, left a day early to avoid another evening and night at Beech cottage. The enormous TV was also much too big for a small living room.

Thank you for your feedback. We do not leave the heating on in the cottages when no one is there. I am sure you would not do that in your own home. Electricity is very expensive, so we only put it on a few hours before our guests arrive. The instructions on how to light the woodburner were in the welcome book. If used properly, it gives out a lot of heat in the cottage. We have had many compliments on the tv, so very surprised by your comment. Property Owner

  • "The location is ideal for exploring the North Devon region."

This stone-built cottage with high vaulted ceilings in the lounge and bedroom would be ideal for a holiday in warm weather. However, it is not centrally heated and the electric radiators in each room did not provide adequate heating during the cold weather which we experienced on our holiday. At our expense we supplemented the heating with the log burner and the owner provided two extra electric heaters.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you found the cottage cold. I believe the rads are adequate for the cottage. In fact when my neighbour dropped off the heaters, she was surprised they were needed as she commented that it was very warm in the cottage. We do state in the information book that we provide a free basket of logs and then after that time, you will need to purchase them at your own expense. Property Owner

Small but perfectly formed, cosy and welcoming especially with log burner plus generous provision of logs. The enormous garden is a stand out feature with far reaching views over the countryside beyond. Perfect for exploring the southwest coast path which we had virtually to ourselves in November.

Cottage was spotless and very well equipped. Friendly and unobtrusive owner. Personally, we found the living space a little cramped and required a sofa that you could stretch on. Other than that, it was a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful cottage set in wonderful North Devon. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped with lovely large garden which our cocker Paddy loved. Seriously tho, a lovely cottage in a great location close to Woolacoombe, Croyde, Ilfracombe and Combe Martin itself with excellent hosts. Highly recommended!!!

Really enjoyed our week in Beech Cottage. Easy to locate - very beautiful and quiet setting, looking over the Devonshire landscape. Good size garden for the dog to play. Log burner and logs provided for chilly evenings, plus oil rads for extra warmth. Comfy bed and pillows. A small breakage occurred on the shower head holding clip, I contacted Debbie (owner) it was replaced immediately. This was our first cottage stay in 25 years and couldn't have asked for a better stay. Would highly recommend this cottage. Thank you David Heidi Ralphy

Two there was no garden furniture as was shown in the advert

Thank you for your feedback. We do state in the description that we provide a starter pack for the log burner. After that time, you will need to purchase additional wood. As you stated the logs are expensive, so we also provide electric heaters for your comfort. Apologise that the chairs were not there, as they are currently being varnished. Very nice location in quiet lane overlooking lovely countryside. The log burner was most welcome . We took our dog Bueno with us , who enjoyed some great walks. We also took our bikes & dog trailer which Debbie, owner kindly let us store in her garage. You do need to take a torch with you, as the one in the cottage isn't great. There wasn't a comments book in the cottage, so could you please pass on our thanks for the prosecco Debbie left for us. A really enjoyable stay lucky too with the weather only rain once.
