  • "Sail Loft is genuinely one of the best places we've stayed at - a thoroughly modern new build in a great location on the southern edge of Dawlish, in a gated development overlooking the sea."

We were impressed with all the facilities (for example we've never stayed in a holiday let with a Quooker tap or a Dyson hairdryer before!) and all the little details and touches - it's clearly important to the owners that guests really enjoy their stay, and am happy to report we loved it. Once we shake off this cold weather and the bi-fold doors can be fully opened, that patio is going to be a wonderful sun trap and summer guests are in for a treat! Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback, absolutely delighted you were impressed with all the facilities, we are constantly striving to provide our lovely guests with those little extra touches! Thank you for taking the time to write your review and fingers crossed for a long hot summer for us all to enjoy, we would love to welcome you back. Best wishes Sharon & Andy. Property Owner

  • "Wow! A really first class house, spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished and decorated."

The property is exactly like the photos and was spotlessly clean. Great kitchen facilities with everything you need should you choose to dine in (as we did) and easy to follow appliance instructions. Big beds which were super comfy and inviting, providing a great nights sleep with blackout blinds. The owner information pack was extremely useful and accurate as was the information we received from the owners prior to arrival. We really enjoyed relaxing in the tropical garden when the sun allowed, it’s a real sun trap! Had a lovely time on the estates beach, very private and quiet with lovely views from the seating at the cliff top. Great location for exploring Devon, had some great walks on the south west coastal path, which was on the doorstep, and would recommend The Ness at Sheldon for food and views (an hours walk, fab.) We had a great time at Sail Loft and would love to stay again and would definitely highly recommend! We loved it!

  • "On arrival though check in was from 3pm we had to wait for 10 mins as cleaner was running behind."

The photos were deceptive, had to walk through the front garden to the house which is the only area to sit, we did have a nice time but things could be improved there needs to be either vertical blinds, net curtains or privacy film put on windows as there is no privacy in bedrooms if you wish to relax with the blinds up especially the master bedroom and the bedroom facing the main road. The master bedroom was right by the gated entrance so be aware you will need the blinds down most of the time. The kitchen was OK but needed sharper knives for cooking and tongs, everything was quite high which if your vertically challenged may be a issue. The welcome pack should have all appliance instructions which is usually supplied in every house we have been to, it says everything is self explanatory but not really we had to Google how to use the ovens. Beds and pillows very soft so maybe have a couple of firmer ones to give people a choice. According to your website listing it looks like the private seating area overlooked sea is part of the house which it is not, it is on part of the walk to the private beach which if you have mobility issues is not easy to get to, you have to walk downalot of very steep steps then under the railway, when you get to the other side its abit overgrown I don't think going down and back up will be easy if your carrying beach stuff with you, also there is building work going on at the estate because of the cliff workers which isn't listed. Lovely walk along coastal path to dawlish but steep coming back up though the views make up for it. All in all we had a nice time I'm just being picky but think slight improvements would help other people.

Many thanks for your comments and apologies for the 10 minute wait regarding getting in, our housekeeper will have wanted to ensure the property was absolutely perfect, we are sorry for any inconvenience caused by the slight delay. We do ensure that the advert pictures are very accurate and we do mention in the advert bullet points that it is a front patio leading to the front door and which is reflected in the lead picture. All windows and patio doors have blinds for guest privacy - the property is not on a main road itself, but is situated on a gated estate. The knives in the kitchen are quite new but thank you for your feedback about tongs, we will of course consider them. There is a welcome pack on a table in the property and we do also provide instructions for all appliances in that pack, we are sorry if you did not notice these for the oven. We do also appreciate that beds and pillows are subjective and personal preference. We clearly mention in the advert text underneath the bullet points, that Sail Loft 'enjoys access to a wooded walk that takes guests down to the estate's secluded beach, you can stop along the way at the shared dining area to take in the sea views'. We have also included pictures of this wooded walk plus a picture of the beach at lower level, so that guests can make an informed decision as to whether this property location would be suitable for them. The works are actually at the end of the wooded walk near the railway area where some vegetation planting is underway and which does not impact the property at all, with the area in question being a 15 minute walk away. Having spoken to you during your stay, we're surprised that you didn't mention to us about needing an item such as tongs or needing assistance with the location of oven usage instructions. We were of course available for any help if needed and Sykes also have a dedicated helpline for any guests in one of their properties - we are sorry we were not given the opportunity to help you at the time as we always strive to make sure our guests have the most perfect stay. • "Sail Loft is a lovely house, very well presented and with everything you could need for a holiday home We did not cook but everything was on site should you chose to."

The house is very comfortable and the location is quiet The beach was fun and empty every time we visited, although this may be due to the "summer weather". Had a very minor issue that was very quickly attended to - could not ask for better response. Dawlish is a good 10-15 minute walk away, although its all up hill on the way back! Really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to recommend

Many thanks Antony for your positive feedback, very much appreciated. So pleased you found Sail Loft comfortable and peaceful. The beach is very enjoyable I agree, lovely for a refreshing swim! Hope you managed to find The Cove Cafe on your walk into Dawlish, lovely views, coffee and ice-cream. Would love to welcome you back in the future! Sharon & Andy. Property Owner

  • "Sail Loft - Pinnacle of luxury and comfort all in one place!"

First impression was Wow. It’s as the pictures show very stylish. Also, comfortable, clean and relaxing. The info pack was helpful, always like to know how everything works. We were a family group of six and it was big enough to enjoy eating together and then relaxing on the sofa and the big bean bag after a full day of exploring the area. There’s a handy extra fridge in the utility room we used for drinks, needed after navigating some of the Devon back roads! The private beach is worth the walk down, we found some sea glass to keep as a memento of our stay. We love Devon and have been exploring it for years and we would love to return to the Sail Loft.

Thank you Amanda, so please you all enjoyed your stay at Sail Loft and that you found the info pack helpful. Its a great base to locate yourself for exploring Devon and there is always plenty more to see and do. Having the beach to explore and relax on is a treat or just sitting at the top of the cliffs to enjoy the view! We would love to welcome you back so you can all enjoy a bit more exploring and thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sharon & Andy. Property Owner

The property was so comfortable and spotlessly clean, a credit to the owners . Me my wife daughter and four year old grandson stayed for the week and did not want to leave to come home.We really could not have stayed in a better property. We enjoyed some nice meals at the Smugglers Inn which is only a five minutes walk away from Sail Loft. We highly recommend Sail Loft and look forward to returning again in the future. • "It was a pleasure to stay in such a well appointed house."

However it would be very helpful if all the household information was in one folder. We did not learn that the beach gate had a padlock until we went there but fortunately a neighbour gave us the combination. We have left that information for future guests.

Thank You for choosing Sail Loft and your comments. We send a welcome letter to guests via email a few days before the start of the holiday, which has all the gate codes, wi-fi and other helpful information on, followed by a text to let guests know. There is an additional folder left in the house with local information for guests comfort. We have taken your comments on board and will leave a welcome letter also in the folder at Sail Loft, as a back up. Thank you and we hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

Five adults stayed and there is more than enough space for all of us. The beach is a must, with a table and chairs on the walk down to sit and enjoy the view. The Smugglers Inn is well worth a visit for a meal, and only a five minute walk away! We would definitely stay at Sail Loft again.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay at Sail Loft, I agree the beach is so lovely for a refreshing dip in the summer & a cheeky BBQ if you fancy, or a brisk walk in the winter! Always something interesting to see with all the wildlife. The views are beautiful. Thank you so much for your positive feedback, its so good to hear when guests have had a great time. • "Sail Loft is a modern property, ideally situated for exploring the Torbay area, half an hour from Exeter, Torquay and many other places, and within walking distance of Teignmouth and Dawlish."

It's ideal for adults or a family with older children, as there is a lot of glass and pale furnishing in the property. There is a private beach area; the walk down to it is steep in places but well worth the effort when you get there. Sail Loft is well equipped, and the owners responded immediately when I requested a cafetiere - it arrived on the doorstep the next day.

Many thanks for your feedback ,& yes i agree the walk down to the beach is well worth it., seals have been spotted. Lovely for swimming! Hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

  • "The Sail Loft is an amazing choice for anyone wanting to enjoy Devon."

We (2 couples) spent a week there in January 2023. The property is exactly like the photos, and the cleanliness is outstanding. The property is furnished very tastefully, and feels very exclusive. The owners have thought of everything that you might need, including kitchen utensils, great pots and pans for cooking, and even a portable Bose speaker for you to use around the property or out on the beach! We had 2 minor issues whilst at the property. We text Sharon and the issue was resolved immediately, without any problems or interrupting our stay. She even threw in a couple of restaurant recommendations whilst at it! All of us would recommend the Sail Loft to anyone without hesitation. It is a beautiful home from home where we were able to relax and socialise effortlessly. We loved it!

Thank you so much for your comments, I am so happy that you all enjoyed, its always great to have positive feedback & we are always looking to improve & listen to our guests with open ears, hope to see you again soon! #Loving Devon! Property Owner
