Friendly and helpful owners. The garden is not massive but more than adequate for the two of us and our two dogs. Fencing was good so our escapologist terrier didn’t get out! There was a useful wooded walk nearby, ideal for walking the dogs. It is on a working farm but there was no unexpected or intrusive noise. Bedrooms and lounge were carpeted, elsewhere was tile or laminate flooring, ideal when you have dogs. If I were holidaying in that area again I’d try to book Elworthy View.

  • "Had an amazing holiday."

Cottage was beautiful the views were amazing from the garden, the cottage was very well equipped with everything that you would need, and is all on one level. We cooked a few meals between us and had a BBQ in the garden everywhere was clean and tidy when we arrived and ready just to put our things away. This cottage is on a working farm not that you would know as it was very quiet and idyllic. There is an electric gate for entry into the farm yard at night but on your cottage keys there is a remote to open it. When you arrive back you are usually met by one of the farm dogs (Drift) who is very friendly and well behaved and we became great friends with. The cottage is ideally placed for access to the Devon coast and some really pretty coastal villages and towns also if you drive round some of the country lanes there are some real gems of country pubs. There is a village shop for any essentials and a Sainsbury’s local in south Molton a little further away there is a large Tesco. The owners Karen and Bill live next door and are lovely we will definitely be returning again and I will recommend the cottage to my friends

The accommodation is perfect for a quiet relaxing break, well equipped, warm and very comfortable. The owners are hard-working but always there if we needed anything. You need a car to get around with several great locations within 30 - 50mins drive. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog and she happily pottered about looking at the sheep. The two very friendly farm dogs were great with her as she is sometimes reactive - they calmed her right down! We loved it there and really looking forward to returning.

  • "This is a very nice, clean comfortable bungalow with picturesque views and considering it is on a working farm it's also very peaceful."

We did struggle to find Elworthy as the directions provided could have been slightly clearer and bigger sign posts would help. The dogs roaming freely around the farm are very friendly but difficult to see at times when you are driving, so from a safety point of view I think it would be wise to put some sort of fluorescent clothing/collar on them to ensure that they are seen as they walk very close to cars. We had all the equipment we needed in the kitchen however it's handy that we went shopping before our arrival as there was no tea, coffee, sugar or milk provided for us which was a bit disappointing after a long journey. We found the flooring very slippery for our dogs especially by the doorways as there are no doormats and on a wet day we had to be very careful that they didn't slip and injure themselves. The bath is a good size for a nice soak but the hot water was a bit temperamental as some nights were very hot and others only warm. Overall it's a nice place to stay and will return again (if little tweeks are made here and there).

  • "The holiday property was lovely and comfortable with everything we needed to make our stay pleasant & relaxing."

The dogs that are roaming the farm were very friendly but unfortunately my dogs are elderly and very nervous of other dogs so this caused a bit of a problem whenever we arrived back at the property as the farm dogs wanted to say hello meaning we had to carry our dogs in each time, not a great problem but made things a little awkward. The view from the cottage was fantastic & the area very peaceful and is ideally situated for visiting the surrounding areas. All in all we had a lovely relaxing holiday.

Sorry our girls were a bit of a pain. They are very friendly and love everybody and want to be friends with everyone’s dogs. I have decided to keep them out the way on peoples arrival, until I have met new people and see how they feel about them. We are getting gates installed so that once people are parked they will not be bothered by them. I’m glad everything else was what you were looking for. Property Owner

Had to be on the level to enable them to get in as the husband is now partially disabled so it suited us very well for that. We were greeted soon after arrival by Karen who was delightful. We found the bungalow comfortable and clean and well equipped even poo bags provided ,instructions for cooker were missing (Karen apologised) . Secure garden for the dog was ideal for us ,view beautiful .Taps outside(hot and cold) ideal for washing grubby feet but a short piece of hose attached would be helpful and possibly a bowl . The only thing I would say was we appreciated it was a working farm but hadn't realised the dogs would be running loose all of the time .Friendly as they were (Jr not so!) we have a reactive dog who struggled to cope as they surrounded the car and stuck heads in as we tried to get out ....he did get used to them as the days went by and we took a walk across the field on a couple of occasions with the springer and Ted was happy with Drift the collie who is a lovely girl . Unfortunately we had to cut our holiday short due to my husband becoming unwell .A trip to the vet on the Monday also with Ted ...I can tell you access to a vet was far easier than a GP in South Molton who told us to ring our own GP so don't become unwell while there !! We would like to go back as we really wanted to explore the area and I'm sure we will in the future.

We were looking for a peaceful quiet place to be and Elworthy View provided that and much more. It was lovely to sit out on the patio, look at the view and watch our dog thoroughly enjoy her time in the large safe enclosed garden which is such a bonus. A new kitchen has been fitted which has an excellent double oven, hob, together with plenty of storage and lots of crockery, pots and pans plus many other kitchen essentials are provided - it is really well stocked. The owners are lovely, very friendly and on site, sure if you have any problem they would quickly sort it out. It is a cosy warm cottage, the heating and hot water works instantly and there are the added bonuses of a dishwasher, a good sized washing machine and a rotary clothes line plus pegs, a decent sized fridge and separate freezer. A real home from home. The cottage is well placed for visiting a variety of places and countryside including National Trust Properties - Arlington Court, Knightshayes and Heddon Valley, all of which have an excellent choice of dog walks. We would highly recommend the Tiverton canal walks, which offers miles of beautiful canal side walking including cafes and visitor centre at the start in Tiverton. If you are interested in garden plants then Ash Moor Garden Centre is a gem, a good old fashioned nursery. We can't wait to return to Elworthy View again.

! Everything you need in a holiday property, - well equipped, immaculately clean and comfortable. The views from the garden are fabulous and the garden is well fenced and secure for your canine companion(s). It’s situated just 5 mins from South Molton where you’ll find all you need. There’s a well stocked Sainsbury’s and markets on set days. Elworthy View is on a working farm, but this doesn’t encroach on your space or ability to relax. Karen and Bill are pleasant and helpful and the farm dogs are friendly and always up for a fuss and a dog treat!! You will need to travel about 40 mins to the north and west coast resorts, but it’s pretty central to both which makes it an ideal base from which to explore. We chose routes off the beaten track, which particularly going north turned up some really quaint and pretty Exmoor villages (although some very tight lanes to be encountered). Clovelly, Croyde and Lynmouth are all within easy reach and well worth a visit. Ilfracombe, Minehead and Woolacombe are typical English resorts with a good range of shops, Westward Ho however was a huge disappointment to us, busy, noisy and very dirty!!

On arrival the first thing that we noticed was that the washing up bowl was thick with grease and the washing machine clearly had not been cleaned for some time. The under sink cupboard was also very dirty and again had not been cleaned for some time. When mentioning these things to the owner her response was to say "I didn't look in there" which is totally unacceptable. She reluctantly took both the bowl and drawer dispenser from the washing machine, cleaned and returned them the next day. On further investigation, the interior of the oven was in such a filthy state that we felt unable to use it at all, leaving the microwave oven as our only means of cooking for the duration of our stay. Although the accommodation is set in beautiful scenery with stunning views we felt the experience was spoilt by the lack of attention given to the standard of cleanliness of the property and as such does not represent good value for money. We took photographs of all the above issues and are happy to forward them to you if required. We look forward to your comments on this matter.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We always maintain a very high cleaning standard, I apologise if that was not the scenario with your stay. I have taken your feedback on board: the washing machine drawer is bleached now and I am also thinking that I will replace the old hob with a new one. Property Owner

Excellent accommodation, Very comfortable and very well equipped. Our hosts were very, very welcoming, and left us a lovely cream tea to start our holiday off perfectly. I really do want to go back for another holiday there, when the opportunity arises. All in all, Nice place and really nice people.

  • "It would have been help full to know the opening times off the village shop as when we walked there it was shut which was inconvenient."

Also we could not find instructions for the oven.
