  • "We stayed at Spring Cottage for 5 days over Christmas this year with our family of 7, ranging from 9 - 79 years of age, and we were definitely not disappointed."

The cottage was beautifully decorated in a coastal style and was very well appointed for a holiday let. Despite initial concerns on booking that the cottage may be cold, quite the opposite was true. The cottage was extremely cosy and warm and was made extra special by using the log burner in the evenings, even though it wasn't really needed. The facilities were excellent. We had a vast food order to accommodate in the kitchen and managed to cater for the family brilliantly to make a traditional Christmas Dinner. The cottage provided everything that we needed and was a lovely place to cook. It definitely exceeded our expectations and was larger than appears in the photos. There are a few internal steps to be considered but the elder members of the family navigated them well. In my opinion It would not be suitable for people with mobility issues or wheelchairs users as there are different levels to the downstairs and steep access outside. The house was exceptionally clean and well maintained and the housekeeper Tracy went out of her way to ensure our stay was all we hoped for. The two bathrooms were lovely and we enjoyed the rainfall showers. The location of the cottage is on a steep hill so may not be ideal for those who find walking up hills tricky, but we really enjoyed the walks to the local pub and around the area and found the villagers on Christmas Eve very friendly too. We have no hesitation in recommending the cottage to others and would love to stay in the summertime, as the views and local area are beautiful. Thank you again for a wonderful Christmas venue our family will remember for ever.

  • "We had a great time at spring cottage."

We really appreciated the ground floor bedrooms and bathroom. The cottage was very well equipped. One thing that I think would really help is having a hand rail on the stairs between kitchen and living room. We booked the property as had a person with mobility issues. These steps were a bit of a problem. The booking info said that there is parking for 1car. This is correct but it is so steep the car could not get onto it without grounding. May need to update thus description. We had a great holiday. Thank you

  • "We found the cottage in need of some TLC."

There were chipped walls where door handles had banged the wall.A new toilet in the bathroom had unsightly plaster work behind it and had been attached to the wall with a chunk of wood. In th kitchen we were unable to put our groceries in a cupboard as they were so full of crockery and pans. The internal steps were deep with no railing to hold onto and made carrying food to the dining room very difficult. The door of the upstairs bedroom was wedged open with a bedside cabinet. The side garden with the barbeque was overgrown with weeds and the garden furniture looked as if it might collapse at any moment. The one positive was the cleanliness, the cottage had been well looked after in that regard.

Thank you for your feedback, We haven't had any issues raised previously but we will of course check on anything that may need to be fixed following your review. We are surprised you has these problems as the cottage is recently renovated and we touch up the decor regularly. We do note that the property may not be suitable for people with mobility issues but the internal steps are not steep; There are two shallow steps into the living room and two into downstairs bedroom. Our gardener has now trimmed the garden back where possible and we have now replaced the garden furniture at Spring cottage. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "The cottage had everything you need for self catering which we like, only 2 of us so plenty of room."

Very nice bathrooms. We did leave comment that the lounge wasn’t very light due to tree outside window if you were inside and hedge blocked the view which was great, and also said outside needed some TLC which we understand is can be hard to do if it always have quests. Lovely village but very hilly we knew this because we have stayed in village before, parking on road isn’t a problem we couldn’t get our car up drive. Weather was not that good but come back rested. .

  • "Great stay, who recommend!"

Its a perfect house for 2 families- our 5 kids total v happy. No faults at all. I'm a keen runner and cyclist- its beautiful and hillly locally... Somewhat limited doorstep loops/rights of way... but great area generally! Parking fine on road just by property with 2 cars- 3 would have been fine and lane v quiet... The actual drive is short and steep however- no problem to walk up but and I got a nasty scrapping sound when trying in dark, so be aware of that! Many thanks to the owner and happy holidays to anyone staying :)

  • "One of the most homely, comfortable cottages I’ve stayed in."

Ever. It had everythingggg we needed with a 11mnth old and 4 yr old. Not only that but it was all so clean, bedding had a lovely smell of fresh washing. Easy walk to little village and great access to local walks and towns. Would be brilliant for two families as you can have separate bathrooms and bedrooms spaced apart so that my folks slept in the downstairs bedroom and weren’t woken up by the baby upstairs in the room next to us. We hope to go back! So much more to explore. All of this and a wonderful host who looked after u too. The hill will also get you fit

  • "The only "tiny little thing" (which we wrote in the Visitor's Book) was that it would have been nice to have a mat in the upstairs shower."

Its floor was a little slippery. That was a minor thing compared to the nicety of the cottage and the thoughtfulness of the owners to provide tea/coffee and cupcakes on our arrival. It was clean, extremely homely and provided a very relaxing time for us during our visit. Thank you

Comfortable and good for family groups. Would be useful to have a washing line that could be pulled across the kitchen courtyard, for wetsuits etc.

  • "This house was not very clean."

The sofas need replacing as they are very stained. The high chair was missing it's tray and the kitchen floor was covered had lots of any powder down which was a hazard to our children. Be aware of the noisy building work occuring next door!

Thank you for your feedback. We do take feedback very seriously and find your comments are very out of character for this property. There was previously ant powder to prevent further issues but this has now been rectified and eradicated. Building works have been completed and we apologised if this caused a disruption. Spring cottage just what we wanted, very homely and even left milk , cream and scones in fridge! The only down side was the massive hill to get to the cottage. I know it did say it was on a hill but this was very steep, as was the back garden which we couldn't really use. Luckily we are pretty fit and coped with the location .

  • "Spring Cottage is a cosy and comfortable cottage full of charm and character."

It is situated on a steep hill in a very quiet lane on the edge of Berrynarbor, with lovely views over the hills from the front of house. The area is excellent for those who love exploring the beautiful North Devon coast and/ or those who have young children to entertain. There are lots of activities and provisions for children within a short car ride. Eating out is no problem as there are so many pubs, hotels, cafes and restaurants nearby. I would highly recommend staying here for a holiday. October worked well for us with lots of sunshine to set off the rich autumnal colour.

  • "Lovely week in Spring cottage."

Well equipped for self catering, comfortable and catered for all needs. Enjoyed a few good bbqs. Beautiful views from the garden although garden is in shade from early evening. Garden dining chairs are provided but not relaxer/recliner ones. Difficult drive to access so need to park on road unless you have a high vehicle. Village itself is lovely, recommend a trip to the local shop for fresh bread and the pub for a drink.
