  • "We stayed at Groom's Cottage as part of a group of 9 in 3 of the cottages, this being the smallest."

This was great for 2 but did lack a bit of cupboard space in the kitchen. It was Christmas however and you tend to have a lot of "stuff!" All the cottages are fabulously appointed and well positioned in a nice little village only about 30 mins from the coast and various great places to visit. Thoroughly recommend all the cottages and worked very well as a larger group all coming together in the largest for dinners. Diana was a fabulous host, thank you so much for a lovely stay, we would love to return.

  • "Wonderful relaxing cottage in great location."

We had a special week with our family who were in the cottage next door. Diana was very helpful and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. A great place to explore the area. Even though the weather was not wall to wall sunshine the cottage was just like being at home. We really didn’t want to leave.

  • "This was a return visit to Grooms Cottage because we liked & enjoyed it so much last year when we stayed there."

It did not disappoint. We had a lovely fortnight's stay. The weather was a little iffy for the first week but, because the cottage was so comfortable, it wasn't a problem staying indoors! Diana, the owner, couldn't have been more helpful & accommodating. I was impressed with the care taken in the freshening up, linen change & cleaning of the cottage for our second week. Fresh flowers, coffee pods & prosecco too. A welcome touch. The cottage is well placed for amenities (a village Community Shop, Ottery St Mary & Honiton) & site seeing. Lots of good walking in the area too. Thanks again, Mary & Dave

  • "When it comes to booking places to stay, I take the time to do my research, especially when staying far from home."

This trip was only 1.5hrs from home and reasonably last minute. So pleased I applied my usual OCD level of research finding this perfect Cottage in an excellent location with easy access to the coast. Evident that time and effort had gone into setting up the Cottage. Nice open plan, perfect for two with space for a third. Well equipped. Plenty of space to walk the dogs within the grounds of Talaton House. The fact that the cottage/Cottages are within the grounds adds to the overall experience. We had good communication with the owners prior to and during. We were made to feel very welcome. We look forward to staying here again

The cottage is based in beautiful grounds, peaceful countryside, has a convenient local village shop and an a friendly pub near by, which does adequate good meals. The property

Groom's Cottage in the grounds of striking Talaton House is a lovely, bright and airy cottage.

The living space is open-plan with a high ceiling and glazed doors on two sides leading to the pretty terrace.

The cottage has one bedroom, a smart ground floor king-size double bedroom with ceiling-high glazed door and at the top of a handsome oak staircase you'll find a single day bed on the mezzanine looking over the living area.

These share a shower/wet room.

Outside you'll find a little seating area and attractive gravelled terrace adorned with potted plants and pleached trees, and you are of course welcome to use the extensive lawns and grounds.

Talaton House Cottages

In the heart of Talaton is striking Grade II listed Talaton House, a former rectory, renovated from its 18th century origins and surrounded by acres of beautiful parkland and specimen trees. Beside the house, the original stables, Groom's Cottage (975996) and Hayloft (975999) have been finely converted with flair into four excellent cottages, all exceptionally well done with smart design, stylish furnishings, oak/tiled floors and sleek kitchens. A sweeping drive (shared with the friendly owners & main house) leads to the cottages. They all look over scenic parkland alongside the main house and you are welcome to wander the vast lower lawns (picnic benches, barbecue area, dogs on leads welcome) and peaceful circular woodland walk. Groom's Cottage (975996), Gardener's Cottage (975997) and Barley House (975998) each have a gravelled terrace (table/seating) at the front, made private with attractive planting and pleached trees. Loading/unloading outside the cottages; shared parking area, just beyond (10 to 30 yards). An outstanding location; much thought has gone into making these superb places individual, stylish and comfortable.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
