  • "A wonderful retreat from the world for humans and dogs who love nature, peace and quiet, bird-song, friendly horses and car-free days."

The cottage is spacious, clean, very comfortable; the owner has thought of everything, and the south-facing garden is a huge bonus on sunny days.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Marsh Cottage - lovely big farmhouse which had everything we could need."

Really spacious, with lovely views and total peace and quiet, the large garden was a bonus The camp site down the lane was handy but certainly not intrusive- we enjoyed an excellent Sunday roast there. The cottage itself is situated in a beautiful area, a perfect base for touring Somerset, Devon and beyond and the walking is excellent - we would have walked more had we not been in the midst of Storm Ciaran, but hardly noticed it inside as we were so cosy. Many Thanks to owners - hope to return again in the future.

  • "We had an absolutely delightful stay at Marsh Cottage with our two dogs!"

We were impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere of the place. The bathroom was lovely with comfortable tub that allowed relaxation after a day of exploring, with second loo downstairs. The bed was incredibly soft and provided a restful night’s sleep. The huge fenced-in garden was a dream for our furry companions, offering them a safe and exciting space to roam and play freely. The garden was beautifully maintained, with delightful flowers, butterflies, birds and bees. And the added bonus of friendly horses just on the other side of the fence brought an extra touch of charm to the whole experience. The location of the cottage couldn't have been better for our Devon coast and Exmoor walks. Make sure you take the picturesque stroll into North Molton, starting right from the cottage, as it was a true gem, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the local surroundings with spectacular views of the village. We appreciated the privacy of the cottage, allowing us to truly unwind and disconnect from the busy world. The well-equipped kitchen was a pleasure to use, making it easy to prepare our meals and dine comfortably. Sheltered carport a huge bonus with unexpected showers. We can't wait to return to Marsh Cottage! It truly exceeded our expectations and provided the perfect escape for us and our pups!

The cottage is lovely, distanced but not remote. Minor niggle was traffic on the A361, but it can be soon ignored. All in all, a great place to stay. Thank you so much.

  • "Marsh cottage is in a lovely setting, very clean and had all we needed for our stay we found the bed comfortable and it has a lovely big bright kitchen and nice bathroom we especially liked the very large garden that is completely enclosed and very safe for dogs, the only negative we found was the furniture in the lounge was not very comfortable."

The access lane to Marsh cottage was ok, part of it has just been resurfaced so was not a problem for us.

  • "Marsh Cottage is off the beaten track, spacious with a lovely enclosed garden able to keep our tiny Jack Russell and Collie secure."

We were able to access the track quite comfortably in our VW Golf. The views from the property are beautiful, a real haven for wildlife, right on the doorstep. It is an ideal base for visiting all of Exmoor. The nearby villages of North and South Molten have all the amenities we needed. The A road, out of sight well in the distance, was audible from the garden but not enough to distract us from the overall tranquility. We would definitely book again for another Exmoor holiday.

  • "The sofa and chairs in the living room are not very comfortable ,two sofas would be an improvement and remove the piano also the track to the cottage is rough ,even worse than expected from the cottage details."

I live on a farm so am used to non tarmac tracks, but I think some repairs to the track are required.

  • "The drive up to the cottage is in a terrible state, full of unacceptable potholes."

A small patio outside the back door would benefit the property, only a narrow pathway at present making it very hard not to bring mud into the house when it rains as grassy area gets churned up.

  • "Lovely, cosy cottage in great location."

But found the half-mile lane leading to the cottage could have been better described as we found it full of deep pot holes & not at all suitable for a normal family car, more suitable to a 4x4 / SUV. Felt reluctant to take car out too often for fear of causing damage which impaired our enjoyment of the holiday.

  • "This is the second time we've visited Marsh cottage and we weren't disappointed beautiful surroundings peaceful but easy to get to places to visit."

It has got an unadopted road leading to the cottage but this didn't bother us we love this part of Devon and it was hard to come home this time. With covid sweeping the country we weren't sure we would, be able to go so we were very thankful to be able to go and would definitely recommend it

The Cottage is spacious and well equipped with a large secure garden which our Doberman thoroughly enjoyed. There are lovely walks from the Cottage and the nearby beaches at Northam Burrows and Saunton Sands are superb. If you want to ‘get away from it all’ ... this is the place. Many thanks.

  • "We had a lovely peaceful week."

In a perfectly positioned cottage, wonderfully situated next to the farm paddock the two friendly horses were lovely and extremely good with our young dogs. The garden is very secure and perfect for alfresco dining with the bbq that is provided. There is also a fair sized fridge in the lovely kitchen which is a lovely family space and by far the best kitchen of any of the cottages we have stayed in to date. There is also a chest freezer in the extra utility areas. The cottage is located within easy reach of many fabulous local places to visit our favourites were Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. We look forward to coming back and exploring more of lovely Devon.

  • "Located at the end of a unmade lane, the cottage has a wonderful location in its peaceful setting."

Our dogs enjoyed meeting the 2 well mannered horses in the next field and I felt happy our dogs were secure in the garden backing onto said field. One small note, if you have a large vehicle (say a van) parking is extremely tight onto the drive but it didn’t spoil our time. Location is good to reach the places we wanted to see, within 30-40 minutes.

We went with our two spaniels who had an amazing time. The cottage is comfortable and well-equipped- just what you need when your stay coincides with ‘the beast from the east’! Communication with the owner was excellent and they made sure that we knew how to contact them if needed and dropped by to check that we were okay during the snow. You don’t need a 4x4 to drive along the track, just care. I’ll be recommending this cottage to friends and family and would visit again without hesitation.
