    Having travelled fairly extensively throughout the UK I can say without doubt this was one of the best appointed properties we have ever stayed in. Quite obviously a lot of care has been taken in the design and equipping of these cottages to the highest standard. The cottages are located in a beautiful peaceful setting, the view from them is magnificent with deer and other wildlife regularly seen from the patio area. Nothing was too much trouble for Jill and Andrew who provided biscuits, wine, ...

Ramstorland Farm Barns

These two former cow barns have been lovingly converted to provide first-class accommodation on the outskirts of the small village of Stoodleigh. Situated next to the owner’s home on a non-working farm they offer superb accommodation for a family or couples looking to explore this picturesque area of Devon. The properties can be booked together with an interconnecting door being unlocked, to provide accommodation for up to eight people in four bedrooms. As you approach the properties you immediately start to feel relaxed by the glorious surroundings. To the front of the properties is a spacious decked area with outstanding views of the valley, the perfect place to sit and relax. In the summer bi-fold doors can be thrown open to let the cooling breeze into the property and to extend the feeling of space to the outdoors. Both properties have sociable open plan living areas that have been tastefully appointed throughout. There is the added luxury of tiled floors with underfloor heating to ensure a cosy stay at any time of the year. The kitchens have been well-designed with quality appliances to ensure that you have everything you need for preparing meals and both barns share use of an external utility. Each barn offers two sumptuous bedrooms; a king-size and a 2’6” twin which can be made into a further king-size double for extra flexibility, and with added luxuries such as built-in chest of drawers there is plenty of space to store your holiday wardrobe. Both bedrooms share Jack-and-Jill access to the spacious shower room which has been luxuriously appointed with high-quality towels and a double shower cubicle. If you can tear yourself away from this tranquil location there is plenty to explore in the area. The nearby village of Stoodleigh has a local inn where you will receive a warm welcome from the locals and there are plenty of footpaths and woodland walks to explore close by. The River Exe offers salmon fishing when in season, or maybe enjoy experiencing the views from horseback. With plenty of National Trust properties in the area, some fabulous villages and farm shops, these stunning properties are perfect for enjoying a real taste of rural Devon.

STOODLEIGH

Tiverton 6 miles; Dulverton 8 miles.

Stoodleigh is a small village situated in Mid Devon, approximately six miles north of Tiverton. This conservation village is situated above the Exe Valley close to the border of Somerset. It is home to the 15th century Church of St Margaret’s which was restored in 1782 and is still home to a Norman font, and there is a village inn. There are plenty of footpaths, fly fishing in the glorious clear waters of the River Exe and natural wildlife in the area, plus there are several National Trust stately homes and gardens within easy reach, including Knightshayes Court, a striking gothic mansion with extensive grounds. Tiverton, a large town just six miles away offers some interesting places in amongst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, including Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, which is one of the largest social history museums in the south west. Stoodleigh is located only 6 miles from the rolling wild green hills of Exmoor, where you will find stags, streams and breathtaking scenery, along with the town of Dulverton and Dunster village. This is a perfect base for touring rural inland Devon, often missed by tourists heading for the coast.
