  • "Cottage was not clean on arrival."

Kitchen not cleaned.Only the surfaces were wiped but the floor was not clean and there was dust everywhere including under the microwave. There were at least 3air fresheners in each room and the cupboards so we could not use the cupboards. There was an ongoing overflowing drain and the toilet flushed all day and night in spite of contacting the owner. The cottage needs a deep clean and a lot of maintenance needs to be done .No toilet paper provided..No fresh hand wash was provided and there were fingernail clippings in the bathroom We certainly felt that the cottage should not have been rented out in this condition and we are extremely disappointed. We have taken videos of the filthy stare of the cottage and cannot recommend a rental to anybody if the cottage is not brought up to an acceptable standard as ewe paid a lot more than the rentals for cottages in the surrounding area

Thank you for your feedback. We have always prided ourselves in maintaining a high standard, so we were extremely disappointed to hear this. We area in the process of investigating this issue with the cleaning company as this is not the standard that we expect. As per all changeovers, our standard policy is that guests are to be supplied with a start-up supply of handwash, toilet paper, and washing up liquid (in addition to dish cloths, tea towels, tea, coffee, sugar, bath towels, and hand towels). In regards to the toilet, as soon as we were made aware of the toilet cistern making sounds of water running, a plumber was arranged to immediately rectify this trickly water due to a broken seal in the cistern. We apologise for your experience and appreciate your feedback as it gives us the opportunity to look closely at the points that you have brought to our attention. Property Owner

Great location unfortunately not as clean as we hoped for in several areas (cobwebs and a musty smell), 2 year out of date food in the cupboards, couldn't use 1 wardrobe as full of cleaning products etc

Thank you for your feedback. We apologise about this. We are in the process of investigating this with the cleaning company that we have been using and as a result of your feedback, have instructed the cleaners to remove any remaining out of date food in the cupboards. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was great, perfect for our stay."

Was extremely well-equipped. Great location for the Donkey Sanctuary but a bit remote if you don’t have a car (we did). The shower was a bit under-powered but a minor thing in an otherwise fantastic property. Will definitely come again

  • "The first impression is of a beautifully decorated cottage in a rather neglected development."

We were then surprised to see that the cottage was not equipped with a washing machine - the first time I have ever encountered this, after many years staying in holiday cottages. This was a slight issue since we had two very young children with us. The cottage was equipped with a great deal of air fresheners to hide the smell of damp. This was also unfortunate as my wife is asthmatic, and her breathing is affected by both the smell of the chemicals and the damp.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear this and take this seriously. We are looking into replacing all of the carpets with hard flooring in order to combat any musty smell and eliminate the need for air fresheners. In regards to a washing machine not being provided, we feel that we are accurate in our property description as we do not list one as being provided. Property Owner

  • "We had a very good stay at sleepy Donkey."

It was clean and tidy but the only one small thing i would say was the shower cubicle was only 600mm square and any body with a stockey build may struggle. This could be easy fixed by fitting a 600x 900mm shower cubicle. there would be no electrical work and no plumbing work to alter. THe tiles would have to be changed also.

  • "Lovely well equipped, comfortable cottage."

Very clean and lots of personal touches to make it feel homely. Book with lots of helpful and easy to read information in it regarding use of heating etc. everything supplied so you could just get on with your holiday. In a very quiet location but easy to get to lots of interesting places including beaches and good walks. One of which is a leisurely stroll to the Donkey Sanctury for a great breakfast.

  • "High standard-would probably list it as suitable for 4 - there were 5 and we couldn’t all sit at breakfast bar."

Spotlessly clean, good location-no negatives. Would recommend

Hello! Thank you so much for your positive and helpful feedback. Next to the kitchen sink, behind a low-level curtain, there are two additional stools for the breakfast bar so that 6 may be seated at the breakfast bar. Sorry I should have let you know since it is not very obvious. I hope you enjoyed the beautiful warm weather during your stay. Property Owner
