Just on the outskirts of Barnstaple, the quaint village of Bishops Tawton is perfectly placed for exploring all the region has to offer while being set back from the main visitor crowds. The village has a charming local pub and shop and almost overlooks the River Taw as it spills into the main estuary. This is a great base for exploring the many surfing beaches that surround Barnstaple Bay, and the many visitor attractions that are located along the fabulous coastline that extends westward to Clovelly and to Bude in Cornwall and beyond.

Close to the Taw River, 4 Rose Cottages boasts plenty of character with its low beamed ceilings and cosy rooms, and provides quality accommodation situated away from the tourist crowds. A lovely country pub lies approximately 100 yards away, while Westward Ho! and the region's many beaches are within a short drive. The surrounding area offers golf courses aplenty and a superb shopping centre in Barnstaple, while RHS Rosemoor and the wilds of Exmoor are both 12 miles away. A perfect holiday retreat for all the family.

Situation of the cottage - within easy reach of key places and things to see and do. The locals were friendly and helpful and we were lucky with the weather :) Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth and my passion for gardening was satisfied by a day out to RHS Great Torrington - terrific!
