We stayed in June09 and actually stayed for more than orignal week booked. The property, surroundings and owners were great and we had a great time. Only down sides for us were firstly location which meant driving for approx 40 mins to get to beach. We knew this when we booked, but didn't get an appreciation of distance until we were driving every day to go somewhere. Having said that coastal properties which didn't look nearly as nice were nearly twice the cost of this lovely place. The second issue we had was with the tap water. It came out orange, which meant we needed to use water filter (provided by the owner) before drinking and when washing clothes it stained some orangy brown. aside from the above we spent a great ten days and our daughters (2yrs and 9 months) loved it. especially all the ducks, horses etc.
Winkleigh 3 miles; Okehampton 8 miles.
Broadwoodkelly is a delightful country village set among lush green fields, high hedgerows and winding lanes just 8 miles from Okehampton and the ‘Gateway’ to the moors. Surrounded by a labyrinth of country walks, with several excellent fishing rivers, a number of quality golf courses and a wealth of wildlife on the doorstep, there are few better spots from which to experience the joys of country living. Pretty thatched villages with quaint pubs and restaurants abound, while close to hand are a number of Stately homes and National Trust properties. The wide sandy beaches and amazing surf of the North Devon coast is a short drive away, while in the other direction lie the wildest tors of Dartmoor. The cathedral city of Exeter is 50 minutes by car.

Previous visitors' comments about Pheasant's Roost:
The holiday was perfect, the barn was lovely and met the standards we expected. The children spent most of the time in the garden on the swing and trampoline and the facilities are excellent. From the first minute the owners were 1st class and provided us with a pot of tea and coffee when we arrived and made us very welcome throughout the enjoyable week.

Lovely location, well kept property, very friendly, welcoming owners, who live on site. Their dogs were well behaved, there is a lovely duck pond in beautiful gardens. The stove (even in summer!) is a great feature and the house had everything we needed and expected.
