Looking across the River Teign you see the charming small Regency town of Shaldon, home to the Shaldon Wildlife Trust's breeding centre for rare mammals, and the well-known beach at Ness Cove, reached through a genuine smugglers' tunnel.

Along the coast is the English Riviera, with its micro-climate, tall palm trees, beautiful municipal gardens and large promenade, lined with ice cream shops and cafes.
