  • "Lovely break, very peaceful and relaxing."

We enjoyed the hot tub every evening. Great take away from The Spice Merchant and generous portions for dinner at The White Horse Inn. Best beach for the dog was Dunster, Minehead was a bit further but worth the drive. You will need to take the car as it is tucked away, this didn't bother us - we enjoyed the seclusion.

It was lovely to spend a week here. Everything needed and more is in the lodge and the hot tub was loved by the family. Site is peaceful and very well maintained and cared for. Just lovely.

  • "Shells cottages/lodges are an ideal place to stay if you want to visit that part of West Somerset."

The location is 10 and the cottages/lodges 10. The whole area when you first drive in is so well maintained and all the properties have parking and lovely grounds with plenty of seating and then of course there is the hot tub!! The hot tub is checked daily. We would like to say a big thank you to all the fantastic team who made us so welcome. You are Super Hosts - We are Super Guests - so now some small things (and they are minor) for those arriving late maybe just some initial shower products and there was no kitchen roll. The only other thing is to explain the rubbish more clearly (the toilet waste bags - disposal) and maybe a bin for recycling. If you have never been to West Somerset - You should so much to see and do. We had a great time - Thanks again.

Smaller rooms than expected but for the 4 of us and the dog it was ok. We had a nice beginning of the year. Thank you to your team.

  • "Good value ."

..lovely property for family hol. Peaceful surrounds. Very conveniently located for nearby coves and bays, for beaches away from the usual busy hullabaloo. Good local convenience stores, takeaways, and restaurants. Only slight shortcoming was the fact that the layout of the upper floor means people in back bedroom have to walk through the front bedroom to get to the front door - which is fine for family with kids - less so for two couples.

The lodge was well equipped with everything we needed and was in a great location for visiting the local coastline. The hot tub was huge and fitted all 6 adults in easily, such a bonus. All sad to leave after a week, 100% recommend.

  • "Lloyd was extremely helpful and responded very quickly whenever we had any queries."

The lodge was very comfortable and had many amenities, the large screen tv being great for watching the Euros. It even had Netflix. The hot tub was a very welcome extra and the log burning stove provided a cosy addition on a wet evening. The paths down to the village could do with clearing a bit as it would be nice to stroll down to the pub in the evening. The paths are currently very overgrown and difficult to negotiate. Other than that I can think of no negatives and we all had a very enjoyable stay at Hazel Lodge.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay, couldn't fault the lodge and facilities, very clean and equipped, and the hot tub was nice."

A nice location, albeit it on a hill so not suitable for boules, a couple of nice walks and bike rides. A couple of helpful items to add to the lodge would be a broom and a clothes horse (for when it's raining outside).

Everything was spotless. The only problem was having to walk quite a distance for the toilet and shower, maybe an outside facility would be an idea. Instructions for the dishwasher would have also been helpful.

We spent most of the time in the garden so really nice to find all the outside loungers. The one problem we had with all the bedrooms was how light they are in the morning. We had hoped for a relaxing lie in, but we were up with the sun. Black out blinds definitely needed! (Also maybe some wd40 on the creaky doors!) We walked to The White Horse on the Saturday evening, really recommend it there.

I know the owners are looking into Wi Fi for the future If you do need some family bonding and a relaxing holiday I would strongly recommend this break to everyone, Best regards Mr Ferguson

Hot tub was brilliant and was used every night! Village of Washford small and can't walk to it but has a local spar and Tesco/Morrisons only ten mins away, couple of really good eating places too, had a lovely carvery at Washford Inn. Grounds of cabin lovely and well maintained but watch if you put washing on line at Hazel Lodge as under a tree and often gets messed on by birds! I would highly recommend any of the holiday homes at Shells cottages, had a super week!
