The property

This traditional, end-terrace farm cottage is over 150 years old with a wealth of history, within a group of similar barn conversions, adjacent to a 16-bedroom former manor house in a rural location.

The cottage can be found within extensive communal grounds just outside the small village of Rockbeare near Ottery St Mary in East Devon, and is a superb base for a family holiday.

A perfect place for peace and quiet, this beautifully presented cottage has a spacious sitting room with deep leather sofas, a French style country kitchen with a dining area and a summerhouse in the garden, ideal for a kiddies bolt hole with a sofa and an Xbox.

On the first floor is a double bedroom with an en-suite, a king-size double bedroom and a single, all beautifully decorated.

The garden is a real sun trap and is totally private, providing a lovely place to enjoy the Devon air.

The well in the garden is a reminder of the history of this wonderful cottage; it is 30ft deep and once supplied water for the farm that these barn conversions resided on.

The award-winning Jack in the Green pub is only a mile away, and the traditional town of Ottery St Mary offers a friendly welcome in the individual shops.

The area surrounding the cottage is very rural, making it perfect for family bike rides and there are some splendid walks along the River Otter.

The well-known stretch of Jurassic coastline is a 20-minute drive from the cottage, as is the cathedral city of Exeter, which has a mix of culture, historic buildings, quality restaurants and shops.

This stunning cottage provides a warm welcome with wonderful hidden extras.
