The property

Within the popular South Hams area of South Devon, this luxury, hand-built wooden lodge sits in the owners’ extensive grounds, a former nursery, planted with unusual trees and beautiful shrubs extending over 3.8 acres.

Close to the pretty thatched village of Ringmore, and within a short walk of a welcoming 13th century pub, this stunning lodge has been furnished in a tasteful style, with a touch of luxury, providing a light, spacious holiday home for two.

There is oak-coloured flooring throughout, with underfloor heating giving an instant feel of warmth and cosiness.

Along with the en-suite king-size double bedroom is the luxury of a separate shower room.

There are two snuggle sofas in the sitting room, plus a wall-mounted TV, ideal for getting comfy with a glass of wine in the evening.

The spacious kitchen has a dining area, with bi-fold doors leading to extensive decking overlooking the lawned garden and fields beyond, a very private area to relax outdoors and enjoy the sunshine.

The lodge is a couple of miles from Bigbury-on-Sea, an award-winning, sandy Blue Flag beach overlooked by Burgh Island, which can be walked to on the causeway or reached by sea tractor.

In summer, you can take a river cruise from Kingsbridge to Salcombe, a popular sailing port, or you may wish to walk the South West Coast Path.

The South Hams has stunning sandy beaches, interesting villages and fabulous National Trust-owned stretches of coastline, which are well worth visiting.

This luxury lodge is a convenient base for exploring this hidden area of Devon.

About the location

Bigbury-on-Sea 3 miles; Kingsbridge 7 miles; Salcombe 11 miles; Plymouth 15.5 miles.

Ringmore is a small village in Devon, in the South Devon AONB, one mile from the secluded beach and stunning cliffs of Bigbury Bay. Ringmore is a conservation village and quintessentially English, with thatched cottages, a peaceful rural pace of life, and a 13th century pub, Journeys End Inn, serving cask ales, local produce and a friendly welcome. Three different paths lead down to Ayrmer Cove from the village, and connect with the South West Coast Path. Footpaths lead to Challaborough Bay and to the golden sandy beaches of Bigbury-on-Sea, from which Burgh Island is reached by the famous Sea Tractor. Bigbury-on-Sea beach is ideal for family holidays. Everyone is sure to marvel at the huge expanse of sand, enjoy exploring the rock pools, or sample the varied watersports available to the more active visitors. If you want to try something different from the body boarding or surfing, then windsurfing and kite-surfing are gaining popularity here, with hire facilities located right on the beach. For peace of mind, there are lifeguards present at Bigbury-on-Sea’s Blue Flag beach from May to September, and a fabulous café specialising in selling organic and local food; whose surf ‘n’ turf is one of the best in the area. A few miles from Ringmore are plenty of delightful South Hams villages, coastal beauty spots and the traditional English market town of Kingbridge on the estuary.
