These two adjoining cottages have been converted from the wing of the owners’ beautiful 16th-century thatched longhouse, on the edge of the village of Roadwater in the Exmoor National Park, 5 miles from Watchet on the Somerset coast. These Roadwater cottages are presented to a very high standard. Perfect for a relaxing countryside holiday amongst the peaceful rural landscapes of Exmoor, these Roadwater cottages offer a quiet country escape from modern life, but are close to dramatic coastline and fine beaches. Each Roadwater cottage has its own secluded garden, and access to the owners’ 20-acre site. The owner is a breeder of American Miniature horses, and in spring there are tiny foals dotted about the paddocks. Roadwater has a village pub serving excellent food, and a shop selling daily essentials and offering newspaper delivery to these Somerset cottages if desired. There are some fabulous gentle walks from the doorstep of these Roadwater cottages, including the Coleridge Way. The South West Coast Path is only five miles away, boasting some stunning views. Watchet has much to offer including elegant shops, the marina and a beach rich in fossils. There is also a heritage railway with steam trains running through 20 miles of beautiful countryside and connecting Watchet with Dunster, with its beautiful castle and yarn market, and Minehead, with its sandy beach and seaside attractions. A stay in these lovely Roadwater cottages on Exmoor will ensure a peaceful and memorable holiday.

On the ground floor is a beamed kitchen/diner with granite worktops and slate floors, plus a beamed double bedroom with en-suite shower room, making this an ideal retreat for couples. The harbour village of Watchet is just 5 miles away, with quaint shops to browse, the steam railway to enjoy and boats bobbing about on the harbour. Visit Dunster and explore the dramatic castle, or head to the sandy beach at Minehead for a traditional day by the sea. Head inland to the Quantocks and to enjoy miles of wonderful walking.
