The Property

A lovely 14th Century Guard House conversion, beautifully situated in the charming, enclosed and private grounds of Hemyock Castle in the small village of Hemyock, just 5 miles from Wellington. Partly surrounded by the castle's original moat and stream, the property has been carefully renovated to provide simple but comfortable accommodation, boasting lovely views of the grounds from most aspects. Hemyock offers a welcoming pub serving fine food daily, two good shops and great horse riding and fishing opportunities, whilst the castle itself is worthy of exploring. Just 5 miles away, the delightful town of Wellington offers a variety of restaurants, pubs and excellent sports facilities. Nearby Honiton with its antique stores, pottery and lace shops is within easy driving distance, as are excellent shopping facilities in Taunton and historic Exeter. With beautiful countryside and excellent walking opportunities in the nearby Blackdown Hills, Exmoor and Dartmoor and the stunning north and south Devon coasts within easy reach, this fantastic holiday location has something to offer at any time of year.

Two bedrooms: 1 x double, 1 x twin with 3 ft bed and 2.9 ft pull out bed. Bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and WC. Open plan living area with fitted kitchen, dining and sitting area. Onsite shared utility room with additional WC and basin.

Heating from electric storage heaters with additional heating from electric bar and fan heaters in bedrooms. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, use of washing machine in shared onsite utility room (at 50p charge per wash), colour TV, radio. Use of shared onsite payphone. Small library of books. Electricity via £1 coin meter charged at normal rate. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot, highchair and stairgate available. Off road parking for one car. Courtyard area with garden furniture. Shared use of picnic area. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 2 mins walk. Note: There is a fenced moat and ruined medieval walls partly surrounding the castle so young children must be supervised.
Note: The games room is available at this property in 2008 but it will no longer be available in 2009.
