In the heart of Tarka country in the rolling valleys of North Devon, lies the small village of Umberleigh, a quiet village set around the old three arched Umberleigh bridge by the River Taw. Near the pretty village square with its pub serving local ales and village shop and post office, is the quaint railway station where trains run on the scenic Tarka Line to Barnstaple or Exeter. A ten minute drive from Umberleigh takes you to the historic town of Great Torrington, with independent shops, Dartington glassworks where visitors can watch in wonder at the glassblowers, and on the outskirts of town is Rosemoor a garden of national importance with forty acres to delight and inspire a wide range of visitors. Umberleigh 2 miles. This extremely well presented pair of cottages is located on the edge of the North Devon village of Atherington, two miles from Umberleigh and surrounded by spectacular countryside. Beautifully converted from a barn adjacent to the owners’ farmhouse, these Devon cottages have original features such as exposed beams combined with modern high quality furniture to provide two character holiday cottages. Dartmoor Cottage has a separate sitting room with kitchen/diner whilst Exmoor Cottage has a combined sitting and dining room with a separate kitchen. Both these Devon cottages have double sofa beds in addition to the three bedrooms, providing plenty of space for family holidays. Across a courtyard there is an enclosed lawned garden for both of these Devon cottages to share, with seating and barbecue facilities. The attractive village of Umberleigh in the Taw Valley is a five minute drive from the cottages and has a traditional pub, village shop and a railway station where visitors can take a ride through scenic Tarka country to Barnstaple on the coast. There is plenty of golfing, riding and fishing in the Taw Valley, while the beautiful coastlines around Appledore and Westward Ho! boasting miles of sandy beaches and clean surf are twenty minutes’ drive away. A fabulous base to explore the rich landscape of North Devon.
This semi-detached Devon cottage has three bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the sitting room, making it ideal for a family holiday in this beautiful part of Devon. Families will love the shared garden access and use of a play area with spectacular views across to Exmoor. Note: This cottage can be booked with ref 13963 and together they accommodate 14 people.

The location of the cottage was absolutely beautiful and the friendliness of the owners and the people staying in the neighbouring cottage was exceptional. Also as we have a very large dog it was really pleasant to see how many people approached us, this is not an experience we have in Germany.
