About the location

Chagford 7 miles; Okehampton 10 miles; Exeter 18 miles.

Spreyton is a small, rural village situated to the northeast of Dartmoor, in the centre of Devon. Spreyton is famous for its connection to the tale of ‘Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all’ who came from, and is thought to be buried in Spreyton. The village has a pub telling the story and serves good ale and the community shop sells local produce. There are some excellent countryside walks in the area including the Two Moors Way, a long distance path through stunning landscapes linking Dartmoor and Exmoor. The nearby towns of Chagford and Okehampton offer a wealth of amenities, and the market town of Crediton is well worth a visit for its attractive main street offering a good mix of local produce, shops and a magnificent 15th century church, plus nearby there are many pretty villages and farm shops. A stay in this beautiful unspoilt area of Devon gives plenty of opportunity for horse riding, fishing, golf and walking.

The apartment was ideally situated to explore both Cornwall and Devon. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very well equipped and comfortable.

Mr Smith, Gainsborough, October 2013

Having somewhere to return to each day that was so comfortable and welcoming was lovely as the weather was unsettled. Everything that we needed was provided in the kitchen. The bed was a luxurious 6ft heaven! The bathroom was very spacious and very well fitted. There was not any aspect of the accommodation that we did not like. We would recommend it highly.

Mr Humpage, Gillingham, September 2013

The owner was very welcoming. Everything was ready for our arrival, and the cottage was presented very well and was homely and comfortable enabling us to relax fully during our week stay. I do not think the photos on the site do the cottage justice, in reality it was far better. Would love to stay again, and recommend it to friends and family. 10/10.

Mrs McBride, Gillingham, August 2013

An exceptionally pleasant place in which to stay; spacious, private, luxurious, and helpfully and sensitively hosted.

Mr Bagnall, Queensland, May 2013
