Spreyton is a small, rural village situated to the northeast of Dartmoor, in the centre of Devon. Spreyton is famous for its connection to the tale of ‘Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all’ who came from, and is thought to be buried in Spreyton. The village has a pub telling the story and serves good ale and the community shop sells local produce. There are some excellent countryside walks in the area including the Two Moors Way, a long distance path through stunning landscapes linking Dartmoor and Exmoor. The nearby towns of Chagford and Okehampton offer a wealth of amenities, and the market town of Crediton is well worth a visit for its attractive main street offering a good mix of local produce, shops and a magnificent 15th century church, plus nearby there are many pretty villages and farm shops. A stay in this beautiful unspoilt area of Devon gives plenty of opportunity for horse riding, fishing, golf and walking.
