The furniture was very comfortable and there is a smart TV with access to Netflix provided which was another bonus. There is also a lovely private garden with sun loungers provided and you can park easily right outside which in a village like Cerne is a massive bonus! • "Lovely location."

Just a few minutes walk from 2 pubs (soon to be three), a tea room and a well stocked village store. Cottage has been sympathetically renovated and extended and has all mod cons but retains its charm. Parking is very convenient on road just outside cottage but road is not busy. Very nice touches such as some milk, tea and coffee, fudge and even a bedside torch ! This was our first holiday cottage rental and the standard has been set very high indeed (and I'm a fussy old git !).

  • "We absolutely loved Little Thatch."

After a journey of more than 30 hours from Australia we arrived at a beautiful cottage in a lovely village in the heart of Dorset and it was worth all the hours of research that went into choosing something really special but authentically old English. Sophie, who lives nearby, is friendly, very helpful yet unobtrusive and had left us very welcome staples and rather special treats. She had emailed me comprehensive information and directions so our arrival was smooth and easy. The location is perfect being within the village and easy walking distance to the great pubs and shop and yet surrounded by beautiful walks in the countryside. There is a wealth of travel guides, maps and literature available. The cottage is extremely well equipped, especially the delightful kitchen and everything is very clean and fresh. With roses and wisteria climbing over the front of the cottage under the overhanging thatch and clematis along the wall in the cosy back garden, Little Thatch must surely be the quintessential English cottage. We are looking forward to returning as there are endless delights in the surrounding area.

There were many extra touches like coffee, tea , bubble bath and dishwasher and laundry products available. Cerne Abbas has a very good village shop and three pubs, what more could you want! The cottage was super clean and does not allow pets so there were no nasty smells, stains or pet hair on the furniture or bedding that we have experienced in other cottages.

The cottage facilities exceeded all our expectations. It was beautifully restored and all facilities were of a very high standard - from bedding & comfortable beds to thick towels, and quality kitchen equipment. The hosts were welcoming and there was the added bonus of having the village round the corner with friendly shopkeepers and welcoming pubs (in two of which we sampled delicious food). We would not hesitate to stay in this cottage again.

Both looked very good but were not user friendly. Other than that couldn't find fault. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful little village even though when we were there, there was plenty of snow. The property

For a memorable holiday in an idyllic, Grade II listed semi-detached cottage, look no further than this very special former estate worker's cottage, set in historic Cerne Abbas, one of Dorset's most photographed villages.

Inside, you'll find plenty of modern creature comforts, together with the charming character of the original 1830 cob build, especially the exposed oak beams.

You'll enjoy preparing tasty treats in the impressive kitchen, which features rain-sensitive Velux windows, granite worktops, and a superb range cooker with induction hob.

Upstairs, there are two snug bedrooms nestling in the eaves, yet still with plenty of headroom for taller folk, and you've also the choice of a bathroom or shower room, as both are on offer.

Outside, you can spend time enjoying refreshments in the enclosed garden, a quiet place to relax after your day's adventures.

If you don't fancy cooking, take the short stroll into the village centre where plenty of local pubs, a tea room and general store await.

Cerne Abbas is probably best known for being home to the Cerne Giant, the much-admired iconic male figure crafted from the chalky earth.

The village features the ruins of a Benedictine Abbey, as well as several ancient picture-postcard cottages, some of which have been used as film sets.

For interesting days out, take the easy drive to the bustling market town of Dorchester, beloved by Thomas Hardy, and explore historic Sherborne, or enjoy Dorset's scenic Jurassic Coast.

This impressive thatched chocolate-box cottage offers visitors a special romantic holiday experience at any time of the year.
