  • "A really quirky place to stay."

This is not the place if you want high tech and luxury, its more a place to get away and relax (we did have mobile signal though). Helen and Brock were friendly and approachable. It was great to walk around and talk to Brock, and his friends, about what they are trying to achieve on the farm.

  • "A beautiful & unique holiday home that Brock & Helen have clearly worked hard to create."

Lovely location on the family farm where everything they do is focussed on being eco friendly and organic.

Hi Mark thank you so much for your lovely comments, we really appreciate them. It was so lovely to meet you both and I'm so glad you got to do so much during your stay. I do hope we get to see you again sometime and maybe they'll be a different flavour jam for your next visit! Property Owner

  • "I don't think I've taken or seen a single photograph that does this place the justice it deserves."

If you love a bit of natural light and usually reside in a dingy terrace like we do this is literally a dream come true. Didn't know how we'd feel about the compost toilet having never used one but it was perfectly fine and what shocked me most was it didn't smell at all! Only thing I would say is, I'm by no means short (5ft 6) and when I sat on the loo I couldnt touch the floor, which was a bit bizarre (maybe the owners could consider a little foot stool). Was really surprised by the amount of reviews in the guestbook at the roundhouse as I couldn't find many at all online which I think again isn't giving this place the online presence it deserves! (Would have loved to have signed the guestbook but sadly we were unable to find a pen!) The owners were lovely, they accommodate us arriving a day later than planned and they also kindly left us a bottle of drink as a gift for my 30th. We didn't see them but we only spent the evenings and early mornings at the roundhouse. We spent 48 hours almost exactly at the roundhouse and managed to pack in a trip to Bath, Longleat, Wookey Hole and finally a stop at Wells before getting back home to Essex by a reasonable 7pm. Thank you for having us and quite honestly I will miss the roundhouse! The sun coming through the trees and reflecting onto the walls and don't get me started on that beautiful skylight! Thank you!

Oh wow Rosie, thank you so very much for your feedback, it is really helpful for us to know about these details, so I do appreciate all that you've written. Firstly I am so glad you had a wonderful time and got to see some local attractions and enjoyed so much about The Roundhouse - it really means a lot to us to know that. Absolutely yes to a footstool in the toilet! There is actually one in the wardrobe next to the toilet door, but I now know the importance of communicating that rather than assuming guests will find it!! And I will definitely make sure there are some pens left in The Roundhouse so guests can write in the Guest Book.. I'm sorry we didn't get to see you in person - I love to meet our guests and invariably end up having long chats about all manner of things! And I do hope you will return, it would be lovely to have you stay again - maybe for your 31st birthday! Property Owner

Great facilities and nice to have everything in one space. Undercover outdoor eating area and separate seating area were very nice to have - but after all the good weather the plants had grown a lot more than in the photo on the listing, so could do with a trim back.

Hi Douglas thank you so much for coming to stay and your lovely comments.. and yes, you are absolutely right about the garden so we have now given it a good tidy up. I really appreciate your feedback as it helps us to see things we don't always notice! with kind regards Helen and Brock Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved the roundhouse!"

It is beautifully constructed and the owners have put so much thought into it. Helen and Brock were brilliant hosts and even left mini hot water bottles in our children's beds. The roundhouse was much more spacious that we'd expected and really cosy with the wood burner. We also loved exploring the farm and visiting the pigs. The location was great too and we enjoyed visiting Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury. Thanks so much, Helen and Brock! We loved our stay.

It was so relaxing we actually didn’t want to leave to explore local attractions, The Roundhouse was more than enough for us. In a beautiful setting we did walk around the Farm and enjoyed seeing all the animals and wildlife. Great little kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals. Could not fault the place at all, the owners are very nice to. Will definitely look to come back again.

If you are looking for a peaceful away from it all experience then look no further. Don’t be put off by the compostable toilet, as a slightly OCD person I wasn’t at all sure about this but I need not have worried at all.

All the animals are very well cared for and live a natural life. Love the ethics of the family who run this biodynamic farm. Nothing goes to waste and they should be proud of this environmentally friendly way of life. Perfect example of how we can work with nature rather than against it. Understood the situation with the toilet, however, this was not cleaned until Wednesday and we were due to leave Friday and it did smell. Didn't feel we were able to wash properly due to the small bath and hand held shower as my partner is over 6 foot. The owners were lovely and very friendly, however, we could not relax and I love being in the country and roughing it but even still we left a day early. The property needs some fixing up as the photos are not true to state as were done when originally built some years ago.

  • "The Roundhouse is a superb little getaway."

Very cosy and comfortable inside, but not at all cramped. Great care has been taken to make the Roundhouse ecofriendly , whilst also having enough of the day to day 'luxuries', such as hot water on demand, to ensure you don't have to 'rough it'. Lovely peaceful surroundings on an organic farm, which you can walk around freely and enjoy the beautiful countryside, and the farm animals. The owners are very helpful and really care about your stay. They are always available, whilst never being intrusive. The Roundhouse is well situated to visit attractions such as Bath, Wells, Glastonbury, Nunney Castle, etc, and has a good variety of pubs and eateries within a short driving distance.

If you don't like quiet it's not the place for you, no T.V. WiFi or radio ( which I think would be a good thing to take) Read the blurb about the accommodation so you know what is involved , it has a composting toilet which was no problem for us and it's the first time we have used one, ( just needs a little step for the more vertically challenged ) All in all we had a very pleasant stay.
