Spacious and well appointed Lovely old stone building over a stream and beside a quiet honeysuckle lane. Great for the dog. Pleasant village and close to the town of Gillingham which has supermarkets and rail station. We had day trips to Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset and Hampshire within easy driving distance.

It's a beautiful Cottage built on the top of little running river stream in a very nice and quiet country side. We loved it and we will be back again in the summer Holidays. Highly recommended.

G the heating/cooker. No up to date local information e.g. nearest shop, pub, takeaways, railway station. As a result we didn't find the wonderful nearby pub until the final day. Directions to the cottage were not the shortest or the easiest to follow. Saying that we enjoyed our week which was very relaxing and comfortable. it's a good location for Somerset, Wiltshire and Dorset. Park and ride station at Gillingham we went to Salisbury.

The cottage is a good central base for Dorset and the wider area, as long as you don't mind driving. We had booked with that in mind and visited Beaulieu, Lyme Regis and Glastonbury as part of our stay. The cottage was quiet, comfortable and cosy,, our favourite part was the courtyard with a table and seating - we spent every evening sitting out, enjoying a glass of wine - the joys of staying during a heatwave!

  • "This cottage was a perfect addition to our week and a half of English travel and memory gathering."

The peaceful sound of a running brook (that romantically flows under the left side of the cottage!) made our time on the patio extra special. The public paths nearby allowed us to meet and mingle with some locals in the incredible outdoors. We used this cottage as a base for our trips to the Jurassic Coast, Stonehenge and the Salisbury Cathedral and Salisbury Museum.

  • "Well-equipped with good quality pots and pans and a Smart TV."

The surrounding area offered good walking and some great pubs and we were lucky with the weather. The owner, Richard, has a large field within 50 yards of the cottage which was great for letting the dog out as the secure patio garden is paved which Bella found difficult as she is used to having grass to relieve herself on! The cottage is built over a stream which is delightful - we had regular visits from an egret who came to fish. The outlook from the property is onto a large concrete yard and the owner's house and farm buildings, although these are not used for animals. There is a caravan park whose access is past the cottage through the yard to an area beyond the farm buildings. For a winter visit this had no impact as we were not using the patio and the caravan park was pretty dormant, but we wondered how this would impact a holiday in the height of the summer when there would be more activity.

  • "A brilliant comfortable property, very reasonably priced and great value."

We have paid an awful lot more money to have a choice of 16 wineglasses or saucepans better than we have at home. This was just perfect for a holiday break, in which we wanted a relaxing time in nice surroundings. Location was excellent, and we were made to feel very welcome. For us the greatest feature was that our pet was welcome, and the accomodation was ideal for a dog owner, plenty of local walks and no adjoining neighbours.

The owners were very helpful too. It was a very peaceful location and very beautiful surroundings. The cottage itself was just perfect. The website pictures are a little out of date - the cottage has definitely been upgraded in the living room and bathroom compared to what the websites show. Lovely outdoor spot for eating or just relaxing by the brook. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend this cottage.

Loved having the brook flowing right underneath the house, and the patio next to it. Well placed for visiting a range of places (particularly recommend Stourhead house & gardens nearby). Host welcoming & helpful. Although there is a caravan site on the farm, we were not at all bothered by the odd car going past into it. Could have been a little better equipped e.g. small bin liners. Loved the fresh flowers and milk left for us, thank you. Really close to the small town of Gillingham, where there are plenty of supermarkets, pubs etc.

  • "Beautifully set, this cottage provides everything you need, plus a very friendly host."

The description where to find it is good, but also necessary, because google maps doesn't provide the correct destination. The brook looks good, but also attracts flies, insects, which attract spiders. With my wife I could not have stayed there or would have needed a ladder to catch said animals. Apart from that, very nice.

The picnic table does not exist. Also it should be made clearer that there is no garden. You cross a road to a bit of grass. The patio area is nice but not safe for a small dog. They can fit through the bars of the railings. A large dog would probably be ok. The cottage itself is very nice.

Very well situated. Very nice landlord. Our only issue was that there's quite a bit of traffic so the terrace isn't as peaceful as it could be.

  • "We were very disappointed with the location of the property."

Starting with the positives, fantastic walks in local area for our dog. However, each time he needed to relieve himself, we had to cross the road outside the cottage to reach the small patch of grass on the other side, as there was no grass surrounding the property. Also, the cottage was situated right next to a caravan storage unit, which meant that caravans were constantly being towed past it, causing a fair amount of disturbance for us if we happened to be sitting on the concrete patio outside.

  • "Nice little cottage, with everything you need & a good location."

However the photo's of the garden are very misleading. The " garden " is actually a couple of minutes walk away & is part of the owners caravan park. Does not belong to the cottage at all. The stream running under the property was pleasant enough but needed some TLC. Also there was no nearby shop, closed a while ago. To be fair the owner informed us of this immediately but Sykes need to update their details & explain exactly where the " garden " is.
