  • "An excellent property for our family’s once in five years get together."

Plenty of space for eight, plus one dog. Very comfortable beds and set in glorious countryside.

  • "We had a lovely stay very comfortable clean."

The games room was a bonus to keep the children occupied during the heavy rains. Luckily there was a large utility for our damp clothes and footwear. There was a power cut in the village one evening, after contacting Mrs Booth someone was at our door with two large candles within 5 mins. Excellent service. Local pub 2 mins away welcoming to dogs and children

It was so well equipped, it had everything we needed and more. Location was beautiful, the pool was heated to a lovely temp and kept the kids entertained all week, it was clean and had a lovely shallow end for smaller children. Our first time in Dorset and location wise it was perfectly situated to get to all the main attractions. Thank you for being wonderful hosts!

  • "Lovely property."

Excellent swimming pool. Attentive and professional hosts. (Mrs Booth came round immediately to fix a problem with the pool temperature). Great pub in the village, and a couple of nice walks from the house,. Dogs and children thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. Only small negative is the access roads to the village are all very narrow, so a lot of patience and courtesy were needed to negotiate trips out. On the whole, the best cottage we've ever had as a big family group.

  • "We had a lovely stay at churn house."

The owner was very helpful. All bedding and sheets crisp, white and clean. Kitchen was fully stocked and we even arrived to biscuits, chocolates and milk in the fridge. The only criticism I have is that it was a bit tired, the back bathroom needs some tlc, the sofas in the lounge were very uncomfortable and they were quite smelly! Also the plug socket in the lounge was broken, so you couldn’t have the fire on the TV on at the same time. Overall it was very pleasant and cosy stay

  • "Having coincided our stay with the coldest weather for quite a few years I was concerned about whether the cottage would be cold."

After contact with the owner Vicky I was assured it would be lovely and warm, and indeed it was. Every contact I had with Vicky was very promptly responded to and extremely helpful. Dewlish is a lovely peaceful area and well placed for access to the coast and countryside. Churn House is part of a working farm and all around is farming area so there are a lot of tractors moving around (especially the treat of seeing the Christmas decorated, lit up and horn sounding tractor parade coming past the kitchen window). My bed was very comfortable and with all bedrooms facing the mini garden and shared pool one didn't get disturbed by any traffic driving past.Being a family of tall people we did find the shower cubicles rather tiny but bathrooms were impeccably clean. We had an issue with the dishwasher not working and Vicky was amazing in trying it herself and then getting it replaced immediately by a spare one they had and so apologetic. The only place a dishwasher is moved about by JCB I'm sure which tickled us. There was another problem with the microwave which couldn't be sorted out - and more sincere apologies - we could cope without so it didn't matter. We all loved Churn House and the area - and the Booth family. The pub (The Oak at Dewlish) is a must - ony 150 yards from the property, very friendly and very good pub food. Thank you Vicky, Josh and family.

  • "We really enjoyed our holiday to Churn House."

The house itself was lovely and plenty big enough for us all (8adults, 2 babies & 2 Dogs). We loved the games room and the heated pool and as we visited in October it was a nice surprise that the pool was still warm enough to use. We were there for the last week the pool is heated/used and we noticed the pool cleaner still visited. There were a few animals which we enjoyed visiting in a morning with our little one who absolutely loved the Donkeys. The owners/staff that we met were all very friendly and happy to help. There were a couple of boxes of biscuits waiting for us when we arrived with some tea, coffee and milk which went down perfect while we waited for our food shop to arrive. The WiFi worked perfectly. The location of the house was also brilliant. It is located in a quiet village so it was very peaceful but it was only a 50minute drive to Bournemouth and about 40 minutes to Weymouth. The local convenience store was a 10minute drive away and the local town was about 20minutes away so we had plenty to do. We would definitely recommend visiting. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

  • "We were exceptionally fortunate with the weather."

Wall to wall sunshine every day so it couldn't have been better in that respect and I think really made our week. The pool was warm as reviews had suggested and we all made great use of it each day. It really was a blessing in the heat! However, the cleaning of it twice per week we didn't feel was enough as the bottom of the pool was a bit grubby. Maybe something to consider. Upon arrival we noticed the house looked a bit tired which in some ways with kids is better than pristine, however, some honest feedback is that it wasn't clean either. The windowsills were dusty as were the skirting boards, they clearly hadn't been cleaned for some time. The windows were well overdue a good clean. Attention to this kind of detail is important. The walls in some bedrooms could do with a repaint. The shower in the bathroom is very small and the shower in the shower room had some mould. Pretty easy fix to sort the latter The dishwasher tray at the bottom is broken and I did notify the owner. The kitchen tap was also constantly running. A plumber did come on our last day so all good for the next people, however, communication about this when we arrived would have been good. We had an ant nest in our room, or at least outside, and they all came in through the windowsill cracks and were on the floor and in our bed! The owner was very apologetic and did come to sort that asap, as well as sending a new peeler as the one we had broke. We did really enjoy our stay and the cottage is in a beautiful location, but it does need a bit of work in our opinion and hopefully this will be addressed Andrew, the farmer who owns the cottage took us up to the dairy farm and that was a lovely visit for the kids. He was a really lovely person who clearly runs a very ethical dairy farm and cares about the animals which was reassuring to see. With a bit of work this really is a perfect place for a family holiday.

It's clean and comfortable with everything you need for self-catering with a lovely little pub just a short walk away, can recommend the food there. You can also help yourself to eggs in the morning from the chickens that roam around. Even though two cottages share the pool, we never found it an issue, we just took our turn. Located near to local attractions like Durdle door and Money world which we visited. Plenty of outdoor space too, and the owners were quick to answer any questions. I would highly recommend and would love to return one day.

The weather being so lovely and hot allowed us to make use of the wonderful heated pool and bbq facilities. The games room was a very nice touch with a full size snooker table as well! The beds were so comfortable and slept like a log every night. The guests in the larger cottage were very quiet too between the sleeping hours so this was good as could have been an issue with a noisy party of people but all worked really well due to the friendly atmosphere. The dogs had a lovely space wjwre they could just come in and ans out of the cottage as there was a gate on our patio area. Nice touch for more relaxation.

The facilities on site were great and we were able to use the pool every day in early October. We had a nice little welcome pack and fresh eggs in the kitchen on arrival. The beds were super comfy and bedding and towels spotless and great quality. The fridge in the kitchen is on the small side and you could do with a second or larger one in the laundry room. We had a lot of problems with flies in the house - not sure if its because its a working farm or the time of year. It was a pain but we didn't let it spoil our time there. All in all this is a lovely place to stay and the local pub serves great food and is "crawling distance". The only thing missing was a local shop for provisions but it did not detract from our stay. Highly recommend for families and large groups.

Loved the pool which was warmer than we expected and we swam every day. It's a decent size, clean and safe. We loved it. The location is a tiny bit remote from the beaches but has donkeys, hens and alpacas to see and the donkeys loved an apple in the morning. It was good to have the large utility room with washer and dryer and chest freezer. Perhaps it could do with a larger fridge but it was all fine. Wifi worked well and we all had enough space to chill out on our own or sit outside on the patio. The weather was mostly lovely which helped our only week away in over a year. Thank you Mrs Booth, loved it.

  • "We had an enjoyable stay however there were a couple of things that need improving."

Firstly we had a fly problem in the kitchen, the owners did leave sticky pads and spray but this was not enough however the owner soon rectified this by providing us with an electric fly trap. Secondly there need to be more mirrors in the house and definitely needs a full length mirror. Also the kitchen was very well equipped but needs more basic utensils such as clippers and a spatula and a bigger fridge considering the amount of people that are staying there. Finally I think it would be useful to have a separate gate on each property as it is somewhere that is dog friendly and unfortunately our granddaughter is allergic to dogs and the dog from the other property kept coming into our property. Despite this few issues there were a couple of nice touches from the owners, they provided us with fresh eggs from the chickens nearby and even showed the children around the farm which was a lovely touch.
