Dorchester 8 miles.
The pretty West Dorset village of Piddletrenthide can be found in the quaintly named Piddle Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, only 8 miles from Dorchester, situated off the main road on a private track. The village is surrounded by glorious countryside, with direct access to public footpaths abounding in superb walks, with excellent local pubs serving good food and real ales, and a village store. Interestingly the young Thomas Hardy, as an architect's assistant, worked on the parish church. A great base for touring, there is much to see and do within a short drive of this picturesque area, including the world famous Cerne Abbas giant, only 2 miles away, whilst the bustling market town of Dorchester, with its array of interesting shops, restaurants and museums is well worth a visit. Within easy reach is the family friendly seaside resort of Weymouth and the Jurassic coast, and also dramatic Portland, venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing events. With Bournemouth and Poole only 40 minutes away, this is altogether a super holiday destination at any time of the year.

Previous visitors' comments about Ashley House:
We chose Ashley House for my 60th birthday celebrations. All our family came, it was fantastic. Everything about it, it was such a relaxing holiday. The children were in the pool everyday, even when when the weather wasn't so good, as the pool is heated. What a fabulous place, will definitely go back, lived up to expectations.
Mr Pridmore, Worksop, May 2013
We had a wonderful time at Ashley House, the surrounding countryside has so much to offer. Many good local pubs offering quality food, the setting is very tranquil and pretty, and the house and garden are maintained to the highest standards. The cleanest rental property that I have stayed in. It's a great house for getting together with family and friends - the ground floor especially is a very social space - lovely, lovely place.
Ms Gibson, Marlow, May 2013
The property is immaculately kept and very clean. The pool was brilliant and was surprisingly warm for May. We were able to swim everyday.
Ms Boxall, Farnham, May 2013
