  • "A lovely little cottage set in an open and beautiful semi rural location."

The cottage was immaculately presented and had the most comfortable beds. It would have been good if there was a selection of leaflets on places of interest to visit. However, I would not hesitate to book this cottage again.

  • "A bit stark."

lack of welcome pack, books, games, puzzles, etc - very poor. can't believe they hold 'covid' germs, looks like an excuse to not provide them. made tentative enquiry about staying an extra night and was quoted £200+ which is ridiculous and obviously everyone loses out

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at North Manor Meadow. As the cottage owners we were not contacted about an extension so I’m unable to advise on this aspect of the feedback. However we do provide a welcome pack, if this wasn’t in your cottage I do apologise, we would happily have rectified this had we been made aware. We haven’t been leaving games, puzzles etc in the cottages because of guest concerns over contamination, however, as explained in the handbook we are more then happy to provide them if requested and we will look at our policies in line with covid restrictions being lifted. Thanks for taking the time to help improve our customer’s satisfaction. Property Owner

  • "Modern, clean and comfortable accommodation in a convenient location."

A much lighter duvet needed for the bed, goodness knows how hot it would have been in the summer, we had to take it off and just use the cover which was not really quite enough. A lovely little group of cottages though in a very peaceful spot, with nice walks around, we will definitely return.

  • "This was a nice modern house it was an mezzanine style house with curtains to cover the balcony."

The house had lots of amenities, including a washer/dryer, dishwasher, small washing line and BBQ! We also had a mini welcome pack which was really helpful (a few dishwasher tablets, cloths, bin bags, washing up liquid, hand soap and a pint of milk in the fridge, plus even doggie biscuits and dog bags.) It was a nice touch and much appreciated! I would say if you were planning on eating in most nights there is no cupboard space to put the food, we used the worktops but ate out nearly every night so it wasn't a problem. The double bed in the upstairs bedroom was quite small (width wise), however there was also a fan which kept us cool. Overall a very enjoyable week, great location not to far from anything, peaceful too, plus off road parking.

  • "A beautiful modern accommodation in a wonderful location."

Upwey is a lovely village to wonder around with a nice river and lots of wildlife. If you want quiet relaxation this is the place. It is also very well placed for trips out with Weymouth a close drive away and many places to visit. We would go back.

  • "The accommodation was superb, light and spacious."

The beds were very comfortable and the showers etc efficient and enjoyable. The only drawback with the accommodation was the lack of cupboard space to store any food items, but this encouraged "eating out". The other drawback was the fact that we used the car everyday as there was nowhere locally to walk easily. The Wishing Well cafe was lovely and welcomed dogs . We would also suggest that a local map/information would be useful to visitors

Liked the inclusion of the pet friendly guide - an excellent idea as this is a prime reason for booking the accommodation. While its not inexpensive, the area is lovely and the contact for entry etc was excellent - very friendly and helpful. Explains why we have returned!

  • "We had a great holiday at Bramshurst, a very modern and warm property in lovely grounds."

Also the location is excellent for touring the area, and the village itself very pretty and convenient for both Dorchester and Weymouth. We were at first a little taken aback by the 'minimalist' nature of the accommodation, e.g. we are used to finding local books and magazines, DVDs and more info on local attractions in a cottage (families might also expect some toys or board games). That wasn't important to us, but we would have appreciated a broom, mop etc and a few cleaning supplies, and especially more crockery as the provision of just four mugs, plates etc means a lot of washing up or running the dishwasher! Finally we felt that the property handbook needed to be more detailed - for example an explanation of the Velux windows which opened automatically (and loudly!) without warning.

  • "This cottage, together with the others in the courtyard, were exceptional."

We tend to use these cottages as a base to sightsee the local area, but found that we looked forward to our return it night, as much as the outings themselves. We are already, checking out if we can book the same accommodation again next year.

About the location

UPWEY

Dorchester 4.5 miles; Weymouth 4 miles.

The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour. An attractive village location and an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
