  • "Unfortunately the property needs a good clean throughout, numerous cobwebs which have been there sometime, mouse droppings in the kitchen cupboard (photographic evidence), as well as the cupboards are musty."

Towels smelt musty too. The top floor shower is not man enough for the house and needs a power shower, the shower arm keeps coming out of the support hole. Unfortunately there was little hot water, it only got warm and we had to boil the kettle for hot water in the sink. Overall we felt the property could do with updating, redecorating and a good clean throughout. The best part was the view.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and we are glad you enjoyed the beautiful view from Chesil Views. Since your stay we have now had a deep clean of the whole house and the pest controller has confirmed there are no rodents present in the property. It is a shame you did not bring the lack of hot water to Dream Cottages attention during your stay as they could have organised a plumber to attend to investigate and fix this issue. We plan on refreshing the decoration now the season is coming to a close. We hope to welcome you back to Portland in the future. Property Owner

  • "Really nice cottage - up to date decor and furnishings and a lovely space altogether, nice and cosy but still modern."

However the accessibility of the house is not good - parking spaces are hard to come by and the streets to actually get to the property are tiny and on a VERY steep incline (please ensure your car engines and tyres are up to scratch!) This also means that the property is not very friendly for those who are disabled or those who have young children because it involves lots of walking up very steep inclines. Also the beach, in reality, is about a good 20 mins walk away, which is more than the 5/10 mins advertised on your website! When we checked in, the house was relatively clean but there were still some spots that were obviously missed, ie the bathroom floors were still a bit specky with bits of dirt, and dust. The shower on the third floor was nice but the temperature dial didn’t work and so the water was stuck at a PIPING HOT temperature, which meant we couldn’t really have a comfortable wash (and after long days at the beach you appreciate a good shower). Overall - a nice place to stay, just a few accessibility problems!

  • "I stayed here with my family to celebrate my 50th birthday and it didn't disappoint Its a beautiful home - thank you for letting us stay in it!"

it was beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated with everything we needed to cater for a large family celebration. The only thing I would perhaps say is that the smaller of the two sofas is really uncomfortable (looks very pretty though) Also, don't expect to park outside the property - unless you arrive during day time hours (mon-fri) This wasn't a major problem as we always managed to find a space further up the road, as long as you don't mind a walk - worth bearing in mind if you have lots of bags to unpack! The location was great with some lovely walks nearby - the mariner is lovely as is the beach and tout quarry park...Lots of hills though which will keep you fit! Thank you again
