Glastonbury 6 miles; Street 4 miles.
The pretty, little Somerset village of Shapwick can be found on the Somerset Levels, an Area of Special Scientific Interest, a low-lying marshy area which stretches from the Mendip Hills as far as Taunton, crossed by numerous drainage channels called rhynes, where willows are grown for basket making, and a bird-watchers paradise. The village became famous in 1998 for the discovery of the largest hoard of Roman silver ever found in the United Kingdom. Shapwick provides a great touring base, as the town of Street, famous for the Clarks Shopping Village, and the historic town of Glastonbury, well known for its Abbey, Tor, and Festival, are both only a short drive. Just a little further afield can be found Wells Cathedral as well as the beaches at Burnham-on-Sea and Weston Super Mare, with Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge both easily accessible. This really is an ideal location for an interesting holiday at any time of the year.

Previous visitors' comments about Dragonflies:
I had a wonderful stay here, along with my dog. The property was faultless in every way, situated in a quiet tranquil setting. Decorated beautifully to a very high standard. Everything you needed was there, including wellies you could borrow and a bike! Very homely and cosy and spacious, lovely shower too!
