  • "The two mattresses in the top single beds are too large for the frames making for a lopsided sleep."

. we had to stuff spare bedding under mattresses to rectify this… We couldn’t get any of the bedroom TVs working… Apart from the above it is an exceptional house, very well appointed ..

  • "Having stayed here 5 years ago in the same property I was disappointed."

There were food deposits on some of the crockery and I never used the frying pans because they were also dirty upon my arrival and in addition some of the crockery is badly chipped or cracked and needs replacing. A proper inspection before my arrival would have been good, the attention to detail was lacking compared to my last stay in this property. Lots of fixtures and fittings need attention, mostly minor things that could benefit a snagging list and attention. I raised some of these with Sykes but was put out when the engineer came during my holiday when I clearly stated these should wait until after my departure. The dishwasher in the kitchen is covered in limescale and it doesn’t clean the dishes thoroughly because of this and probably needs replacing or servicing . I had to hand wash items afterwards and it also didn’t appear to dry the dishes properly so I had to towel dry to make sure everything was ready to use. It is in an enviable location and the excellent games room with pool table is the main selling point and why I have rebooked for next year. I do hope a snagging list is compiled and acted upon. One of the bedroom doors is coming off it’s hinges, a towel rail had come away from the wall, an extendable shaving mirror had lost a rivet and a little screw kept falling out that was being used instead. Mostly minor things but collectively made me feel the asking price for the rental should have been reflected in the quality and maintenance of the place. It has so much potential to be perfect if the time is spent on it.

  • "Great holiday house and felt very homely with lots of lovely pictures and ornaments."

Kitchen well equipped but lacked food storage space. All rooms beautiful. Garden area lovely too. Pool table was enjoyed by all. Only downside was the noise from the local youngsters late night/early morning shouting/singing and getting onto the fishing boats. Should be more police checks to curb this. We have previously stayed around the harbour many times but this year was the worst we have experienced for anti-social behaviour. However this is a local issue nothing to do with this beautiful house. Our family would definitely like to holiday there again. Thank you.

  • "We love Weymouth so much, we've visited in three times in two years!"

Harbourside House ticked every box as far as location, size and outside space was concerned. Travelling with young adult children, the house offered everything we needed and we all love the location with views, pubs, restaurants and shops on the doorstep. The only small thing that could be rectified was that the cleaning could have been a bit better. Kitchen appliances were stained and some crockery and pans not quite clean. I brought my own dishwasher tablets but I think there should be dishwasher salt provided in the machine. The outside table was dirty, so I cleaned that and I had to ring Dream Cottages for the outside cushions. They were brilliant and the cushions were supplied very quickly, so not a big problem....Also a couple towels and toilet rolls missing. Nothing major, just attention to detail, and I do know there's probably a quick turnaround. Not enough to take a star off. Thank you

Nice for people watching. House lovely and warm, could do with better internet connection and more cupboard space in kitchen to store food. Could not get hob to work but Dream Cottages came quickly and sorted out the problem. Isolator switch not turned on. Nice garden but did not use it because of the weather.

Needs a good clean as in dusting, and the showers need a good clean. Mould in showers a little off putting and light in shower doesn’t work. Otherwise a really perfect holiday home. Great position for the beach and sight seeing. Bring slippers for upstairs, carpets are nice and clean and rightfully owner states no shoes upstairs. Fantastic people watching window. It also has a parking permit( of which we was told it didn’t, and was told we would receive £20 back, so we paid for parking pre visit somewhere else… so lost out by £40!! ) Lots to do in the area.

Whole house very clean, nicely decorated with a wonderful outdoor area that we used ALL the time. The only downside is the top floor shower that doesn’t run fully which was annoying. Shelving in bathroom hanging off which will hopefully be rectified soon. However, we have booked for next year. A big shout out to the Dream Cottages team who were incredibly helpful and friendly.

  • "We came to Harbourside House 4 years ago and loved it so much that we returned again, post pandemic."

The house location is idyllic and we spent many a morning sat watching the harbour - bustling and thriving. The house comes with a very well- equipped kitchen - a little over whelming if honest as the cupboards are brimming with an overload of resources. It would be great to have more cupboard space to house food etc as it’s a lovely space to cook and socialise. There is a lot of furniture around and possibly not needed?! The downstairs ‘games’ room is very busy with furniture that it’s hard for more than 2/3 people to be in there enjoying the space at anyone time. The updated outside area is a very welcome addition. It’s a great area. It would be great to see the house have a little more TLC as it’s looking a little tired around the edges. The bathrooms, especially, are looking like they need some attention. My one piece of advice? Take earplugs! The bins being emptied at 6am and the harbour kicking into life, very early, means you won’t be in bed past 6.45/7am!

  • "There were no fans in the property and the weather was hot ."

We did not realise that the property was in an area that was noisy at night and the blinds in the bedroom in the front were not dark enough. There were mice in the back garden. The fuse box tripped once and we had no power (including the fridge) for 30 mins. When we rang the emergency number we were told someone would come the next morning . No one did come nor did we receive an email confirming this (as promised). The bedding was not clean on one bed when we arrived . There were blood stains on the bedding. Could there be a book for guests to put things in that need doing such as which light builds need changing as this may help the next guests?

  • "This is the fourth time we have stayed at this property."

We have always loved the location and facilities offered at this property. Sadly the lack of car parking permits for 2 vehicles is a let down as we booked on the understanding there were 2 permits. A number of fixtures and fittings need some TLC to bring it back up to standard. Also had issues with lack of hot water for a few days. Great property, great location with plenty of space.

Thank you for your feedback and we are delighted that you have returned so many times. Unfortunately, the Council suddenly withdrew carpark season parking which owners had no control over. We have been eligible though to purchase one parking permit which is available to guests. We have an ongoing maintenance plan prior to the start of each season and are sorry if you found something not up to scratch. It is difficult during the season to undertake more than the most essential maintenance in order not to inconvenience guests. Please do let us know of any specifics. Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback. Property Owner

  • "The location of the property on the edge of Weymouth harbour is exceptional."

Just a few minutes walk to the town centre and to the beautiful beach. It is in the heart of the restaurant / pub area so some noise is expected but this didn't affect us. The property is very well equipped, the kitchen / dinning area has everything you could possible need and the outside space was well laid out with ample seating. There is no BBQ facility but this is understandable given the fire risk. The four bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and there are four well equipped bathrooms. We had an issue with one of the pull light switches in the bathroom which was reported to the local Sykes office and they arranged for an electrical to fix it the same day. Impressive customer service. The lounge is large and plenty big enough to comfortably seat 8 people. There have been some comments about parking however we didn't have any problems even though it was the Jubilee bank holiday and Weymouth was busy. You get one parking permit which allows you to park one car in Zone L which has parking spaces almost outside the property. This is on a first come first served basis and available for general parking for upto an hour so spaces are at a premium but in the late evening we had no problem parking. We didn't use the car that much anyway as public transport covered everything we needed. We did use the North Quay car park which is around 500yds from the property for a second car and booked a weeks car parking through the Just Park App for c. £40 and this was fine. On the whole this is a great property which I would highly recommend. We are already looking at re-booking.

We booked cottage that t would have 2 parking spaces but due to council only 1 availible. App for car park in Notts forte would not let us pay weekly so had to get up very early to make sure we played at 8am every morning which was inconvenient

Unfortunately, the Council's decision to withdraw season parking was sudden and over which we had no control. We are now however eligible to apply for one parking permit available for guests' use. Property Owner

The location was brilliant, the facilities offered were great with a really well stocked kitchen and a lounge full of games, dvds and a cleverly thought out house. Pros included the above and a super games room for all our party, beautiful bedding and well appointed bedrooms, a nice welcome pack and a great outside seating area used daily as we had amazing weather. Cons included the fact that the outside area had not been cleaned at all so we all cleared the leaves and cleaned it, we couldn’t find how to recycle, the kitchen is tight for 8 people and a high chair, the top shower room shower wasn’t up to the standard of the others, and the front windows could have done with a clean particularly the lounge. Having said all that we have already recommended it to friends and the grown up children all from London absolutely loved it particularly the views and the location. We will definitely book it again. A big thanks to the owners.

A few downsides such as 1. Kitchen is full to the seams of cutlery/plates/ pots&pans to the point where there is very minimal space to actually put shopping. 2. The facilities, cleanliness and actual position of the house were fantastic. The only things I would mention are that despite the fact children are welcome the stairs are a bit of a problem. My 15 month old granddaughter was with us, we knew there were stairs so took a stair gate however it was too wide due to the age of the house and the narrow stairs. Perhaps something could be made to fit? Also the outside area and access to it are not young children friendly. The pebbles within the decking and the decking ‘steps’ were a bit of a nightmare too for all of us. Lastly we were a little surprised there was no welcome pack as in tea/coffee etc. I’ve not been anywhere even during the pandemic when there was nothing provided however small. I would recommend this house to everyone despite the above, we had a wonderful holiday.

The location right on the quay is great, you can sit at the lounge window and watch the foot traffic all day long. The kitchen is well stocked and very spacious. The only concern we had was with the lighting in the lounge. With only lamps and no main light, it was very awkward to see to read once it got dark. Either higher voltage bulbs for the lamps or bigger lamps are needed.

The building was fantastic, plenty of facilities and a wonderful view. My only two criticisms were that a couple of the rooms had obvious damp patches and required some sealing of the showers above and redecoration. And the amount of glasses/ excessive kitchen serving plates etc meant that there was little room for food. There were 6 adults and 2 children in our party and it was more than big enough for everyone. The decor was beautiful, we enjoyed playing pool downstairs. It was in a fantastic location with wonderful views overlooking the river where there was plenty going on. However what we feel let the holiday down was the maintenance side .After a couple of days we noticed that ceiling lights in one of the en-suite shower rooms were not working, extractor fans in both en-suite shower rooms not working, two spot lights in the kitchen area not working and two bedside lamps bulbs not working, We reported this to Dream cottages on Monday June 10th they assured us they would fix it , they asked us to leave the spare key in the key lock, unfortunately they never fixed anything so the situation was still the same when we left on Friday June 14th.We feel this is such a shame as everything else was perfect so I’m afraid to say the house lived up to its name but the maintenance side certainly did not.I certainly hope these things are fixed before the next tenants arrive.

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
