  • "We loved our stay at Amelyah Cottage."

Beverley and Sam were great host, very welcoming and friendly. The area at the front of the Cottage with the waterproof roof is very handy when coming back with a wet pooch. And it's a nice place to sit too. The back garden is delightful with stunning views. There are plenty of footpaths near by too. Winscombe has alot of facilities and the Strawberry line walk is an absolute must, so beautiful. Our only slight complaints would be, we didn't actually get to try the sauna, we weren't in control of the heating and had to ask every time for the heating to be put on, which just didn't feel right and there was an awful lot of dust on the beautiful wooden screen dividing the bedroom from the sitting room. Apart from that this place is a very nice, central , and well equipped property.

  • "Had a lovely stay at Amelyah Cottage."

Would just mention that the heating is on timer for morning & evening & is controlled by the hosts who live in the adjoining house. If you are staying in or the weather is cold the host is quite happy to turn the heating on during the day if you give them a ring (no. in Welcome folder). Good location for visiting Burnham-on -Sea, Weston-Super-Mare, Clevedon & Cheddar. Lots of walks including the 'Strawberry Line'.

  • "Amelyah Cottage is in a great spot for exploring the Mendips, the seaside and Somerset Levels."

It was quiet, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully planned and decorated for a small space. I would not call it a cottage though, more like a granny flat. It does have lovely outdoor spaces, though it was too cold to enjoy these ( and the peaceful view) but would be great in the summer and the garden was handy for the dog. The only small criticism was that I was a bit cold at times although the bathroom was warm and I found a lovely thick rug to cosy up in.

  • "Lovely location in a quiet area but 10 mins walk to facilities, ie pub, shops and cafes."

Nice place to relax in after a day out as good quality outside seating provided in astroturfed garden. Didn’t use sauna as weather was very warm. ‘Cottage’ (converted garage) comfortable including reclining sofa. Was let down slightly by dirt in wardrobe inc cotton bud and used ice cream in freezer. Owners are next door and very friendly. Nice welcome pack and chocolate cake on last day. Would recommend.

  • "WHAT A FIND!"

We had a lovely week in lovely Amelyah Cottage. It was clean comfortable and very well equipped, including a full size cooker. There were bread, milk and biscuits provided as well as tea, coffee and sugar - much appreciated. The little garden was lovely and secure our little dog was most happy. Samir and Bev were lovely and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable including homemade coffee cake which was delicious. Samir even came over at 9pm in the evening because there was a small problem with the telly! The area itself was quiet and peaceful, but only a short drive to Weston Super Mare and the seaside. There are also lots of places close by to visit and the whole area is very dog friendly - lots of pubs and restaurants are happy for you to take your pets in and that includes Wells Cathedral. We were very fortunate with the weather only having one rainy day. Would definitely recommend Amelyah Cottage and hope to return next year. Would also like to add that Covid 19 instructions were followed by Samir and Bev.

  • "We were very pleased with how the booking for the cottage was made so easy and communication was constant."

The directions were given a few days before as was the key safe code which is a really good idea as you havent got to chase around after the key. The cottage itself was well maintained and very comfortable. A lovely thank you card from Beverly & Samir with their contact details was waiting for us and Beverly also came to make sure we were ok and had all we needed. I would certainly look to booking with Sykes Cottages again and recommend them to family and friends. Thank you for making our few days away easy and problem free.

We chose Somerset & Amelyah Cottage as there was plenty of lovely looking places we could walk our new puppy. Beverly the owner of Amelyah Cottage was so welcoming & her holiday home was perfect for our needs and she gave us a lot of extra advise on where we could go in the local area.. which was very helpful. We had a lovely stay & will definitely be booking through Sykes cottages again in the future.

The cottage is very well decorated, clean and excellently equipped. Our hosts, Bev and Sam couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable. The location is quiet and it’s an easy walk to the village. Despite the rain on most days we had a thoroughly enjoyable break. Would definitely book it again. The cottage is small but has everything you need. A welcome pack on arrival including bread, milk, butter, tea etc. There were even new toothbrushes in case you forgot them! The cottage is situated in a lovely village and is close to lovely walks. It’s around 10 minuets drive to cheddar and 25 minuets to western super mare, both lovely places and very dog friendly. We loved it staying in the cottage and the garden was lovely with beautiful views. The only downside was that dogs were not allowed inside the village pub and it was a bit cold to sit outside. However, we found the Railway Inn about 25 mins walk away down the strawberry line and that was very dog friendly. All in all a lovely stay with lovely hosts who thought of absolutely everything to make our stay wonderful. Would definitely return.

Good location for visits to Bath, Bristol, Western. Wells etc. Has been redecorated since photo's on site, now very dark in living space. Sadly very very strong smell of Dog in living area. Slight issue with fridge being behind kitchen door. We were lucky and with the weather able to eat outside at night, but in poor weather don't think dining area suitable, massive bathroom with corner bath but no shower curtain. so bathroom floods every time we showered. Very poor screening between garden and owners garden. they look directly into the bedroom !!
