  • "Small but perfectly formed is an apt description of this cottage."

The layout is superb. The cottage is well equipped, we had everything we needed for the week. The double room does get very warm from the water tank in the cupboard and the sun through the window. One or two spiders enjoying a stay too, although that did not bother us and we left them alone. Pleasant to sit in the courtyard area in the early evening to enjoy the last of the sunshine. We had a lovely week in The Cygnet.

  • "The cottage is in a quiet location with a secluded and private patio area at the back."

We enjoyed sitting there under the parasol in the afternoon. The hosts are friendly and were happy for us to explore their large wooded garden area. The rooms are cosy and compact and well furnished. Driving out of the entrance requires a little care as it has a blind corner but there is little traffic down the road. Easy access to the south coast and national trust properties. We really enjoyed our stay here. Andy and Sue.

  • "Tired and careworn."

The entry time of 5pm is far too late! When COVID was prevelent, I could understand this, but not now. The cleanliness of the property was of mediocre standard, state of flooring was not clean, kitchen floor was sticky and carpets in the lounge dirty! The suite in the lounge had torn covers, looked very grubby and did not look inviting to sit on. Would not consider returning. Was so pleased to go home at the end of our stay!

It's our third visit. We find the cottage to be really comfortable. Parking is right outside. Haselbury Plucknett is a lovely village set in a really great part of South Somerset and is just a few minutes from the coast. I'm sure that we'll return again when we find ourselves in need of a bit of quiet R&R.

This is a lovely, cosy cottage, complete with a woodburner which we didn't need to use. We tended to eat our evening meals in the cottage, cooking in the kitchen, which was perfect. The off street parking is a real asset. All in all we had a really enjoyable stay at The Cygnet and hope to return some time.

  • "Not very impressed with owner, tried to ring her twice on day before we left-no reply."

Tried again day of arrival when we near house ,still no answer. It was 4pm and we couldn't go in until 5pm . I was worried so we went to cottage no one there. So knocked on owners door, she answered saying "I've told you not to come before 5pm". As I had never spoken to her before, I was rather annoyed at the manner in which she spoke to me. It turned out she had spoken to another client and thought it was me. She did apologise but I was not impressed. There was no welcome gift which we had been spoilt with at previous cottages. I n fact she did not speak to us again although we saw her several times. The inside was clean but the outside was dirty. windows looked as if never been cleaned. Definitely wouldn't`t recomend it.
