The North Essex village of Ridgewell is next to the borders of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. This part of East Anglia was the film location for the TV series ‘Lovejoy’ and is well known for its wealth of pretty villages, consisting mainly of timber framed or painted thatched cottages. There are a wealth of attractions to visit in all three counties. Essex offers Ridgewell Airfield with a collection of WWII memorabilia, Hedingham Castle and Gardens, Colne Valley Railway, Colchester Zoo, Gosfield Lake and Finchingfield, a beautiful village pictured on many chocolate boxes. In Suffolk, visit Melford Hall, Kentwell Hall, the beautiful medieval town of Lavenham, Newmarket racecourse and Bury St Edmunds. The city of Cambridge offers, Duxford Imperial Musuem, a wealth of architectural collage buildings, the University Botanic Gardens, and punting down the river Cam.
