  • "Great welcome pack the only good point they was alot of down points not on a holiday park as made out."

but behind a dentist so parking was a problem as few places to park. We thought we got the wrong place as the garden was in a mess with things dump everywhere. The place was not clean also the bed was broken and we were told it was a double and two singles beds not the case it was two doubles which was a problem. The place needs tlc the decorating was poor no lock on bathroom door. Sofa very uncomfortable. Not worth the money. Junk in cupboards no mop or broom.

  • "On entering the chalet I found it smelled musty."

The first bed I slept on was totally uncomfortable, the 2nd slightly less so. The shower was useles, I could barely wash my hair let alone the rest of my body. Kitchen utensils were extremely basic and to be honest I had better in my touring caravan when I had one. The sofa's were bottoming out, ( I weigh about 9 stone, so especially heavy). On the plus side, all bedding and towels were nice and fresh. The lady that owns this chalet was very pleasant and showed me around the place, for which I am grateful. However, I would not recommend this to any friends/ family, I left 2 days early as I could not stay any longer because of these findings. I do not wish to leave a bad review as that is not in my nature but I hope it is taken onboard.

I’m so sorry you found fault. I do try to cater for all needs ,hence why I supply one soft bed and one slightly harder. There are plenty of utensils to hand did you look on the 2nd drawer down beneath the knife and fork drawer. If there was a slight damp smell I do apologize . This may have been because the chalet had be closed for a while. . I thank you for the nice reviews and sorry you had to complain I have had 2 complaints regarding the shower but I know it works well I just don’t think you programmed it properly I will add instructions to the guest book so future guests do not have the same problem . The shower is only 2 years old as is the whole bathroom. The water flow is not outstanding on site and if you use the washing machine or washing up water whimsy showering the power will drop Property Owner

  • "Julie was friendly as were people on site."

She did ask if things were okay ,we agreed with hindsight we shouldn't of done. ,the cottage smelt of Nicotine ,toilet was in need of clean, cobwebs on ceiling and behind blinds.Davids quilt had stains on it (not noticed till just before we left.Under sink cupboard had spray with no identification on itParking was tight as there seemed to be a couple of vehicles never used.Caravan appeared to take up more space..

I do apologize for your findings. I have checked and have noticed cobweb on one of the kitchen top windows. This has now been rectified. With regard to the toilet I do believe that the toilet had a splash of paint in the bowl which I haven’t been able to remove . The toilet is cleaned thoroughly but the paint mark still remains. I will seek advice on how to remove it . I cannot comment on the duvet as it was fresh when the bed was made up. As for the caravan . in the car park . That belongs to me . There is a car in the car park that is awaiting collection from a garage as it has broken down . Although it is owned by one of the tenants on the site. I thankyou for your review and I hope apart from the downs you had a lovely stay Property Owner

  • "All you can get in the bedroom was a bed, no room to put clothes away."

You could just get around the bed.

I do apologize if the bedrooms were a bit tight . But I decided to have king size beds in the rooms which meant having less space but more comfy beds to sleep. Property Owner

  • "Resthaven was a lovely little lodge with a beautiful cottage garden surrounding it."

The owner left a very generous welcome pack which was lovely. Also doggy bed and toys which our dog enjoyed playing with. The beds and settees were extremely comfortable and the new decor looked good. Property was only about 10 minutes walk to beach and rainbow cafe which was dog friendly outside (covered) with delicious food (a little bit over priced though). We walked to Harwich town by promenade which had lots of history on the route. Also walked to Little Oakley along the sea wall which had beautiful scenery. The children loved playing on the beaches as did the dog. Local people very friendly and the owner was too. Local premier shop and tesco kept us topped up with groceries.

Thank you Alison for your positive feedback. So glad you liked Dovercourt. Thank you for leaving the chalet so tidy after departure. hope you had a safe journey home Property Owner

  • "The accommodation had everything we needed and was in a great location, just a short walk to the beach."

The welcome pack of groceries was a nice touch and much needed after our long drive. Really appreciated the secure garden for our dog as so few places seem to have this. It's a great base from which to explore the surrounding area.

  • "If anything this place is undersold."

It’s on a quiet site, has a really nice garden and is well looked after. There are a lot of personal touches which make a home from home . The kitchen is well equipped, there’s a good sized bathroom with walk in shower which was good as I took my 90 year old father. The beds are comfy . The living, dining area is well laid out giving a feeling of space and is light and airy. We explored the Essex coastline and spent a while in Harwich but there’s a lovely beach very close if that’s your thing. The owner popped by with her dog Ted just to check we had everything we wanted and invited us to call her if there were any issues. I have no hesitation in recommending this property for a quiet , comfortable break. We don’t have a dog but this place would be great if you did as the garden is fenced all the way round.

Thank you Ian for your feedback . I am pleased you had a nice stay. Property Owner

Lovely little site. Chalet tiny but comfortable. Fab garden. Dog enjoyed it! Thanks for the welcome pack, lovely idea. Would have liked some literature about locality/bus routes/ in the chalet. We were lucky with 'neighbour's ' during the week. Great people staying on the patch made it fun. Dad enjoyed it and that was the idea!

  • "This is a BEAUTIFUL, very well equipped holiday chalet."

We absolutely loved our stay. For us, the garden really 'made it' - it's really pretty and well kept. It is totally secure so our little terrier could potter around freely. Neighbours are lovely & know lots about the area. The beds are the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The welcome food package was so kind & made things so much easier for us after a long journey. THANK YOU!

  • "Sadly we only stayed from arriving Friday evening until Sunday afternoon, as our dog just would not settle."

The accommodation was spotless and although very small was adequate for us as adults; however we do have a very large dog and she was unhappy at this place. From reading about the venue we thought there was a high secure fence all the way, or at least part the way around the premises, where we could let the dog roam on her own. Only the rear fence was high, with the remainder being probably the same height as her. Consequently we were never able to let her off her lead at any time; for people with very small dogs it would be adequate and very pleasant indeed. As said the interior was very modern and extremely clean and had every thing you would need, so for us no problem at all. They say that dogs rule your life and certainly in this instance it happened, in fact she started to become unwell and as a rescue from a charity we were not going to take any chances. So it was entirely our decision and as regretful as it was it had to be made.

There have been a few additions to the lodge to that advertised including a freezer & microwave oven. Other welcome touches where tea, coffee, breakfast cereals & condiments.

The secure garden was good for the dog.
