  • "The basket of drinks and small snacks was very welcome on arrival, especially as we arrived late after a long journey."

Owner was also very helpful in providing extra bedding. Overall, a comfortable flat in a peaceful and scenic part of the world that we enjoyed exploring. I would however repeat the notes from previous reviews regarding the limited headroom in the flat - especially in the bathroom which is also small in size. No easy task trying to shower!

Thank you for your feedback! Like many highland properties we are 1.5 storeys meaning first floors have unavoidable sloping ceilings and dormers as shown in all photos. Regarding the bathroom, the corner bath has a shower head accessory which is only provided to enable guests to wash/rinse hair, it is not intended to be used as a stand up shower nor does our description describe it as such. • "Very very nice vieuw out of the window, seeing the lake changing every day or even minute!"

Comfortable sleeping rooms and hall way. Five minutes walk to the beautiful lake of Morar. We were missing coasters for the pans and a place to put our cups while sitting on the couch. There was little space around the table, but moving the table is no option because of the vieuw!

Can we first thank you for the lovely hand written letter you left in the flat expressing what a wonderful holiday you have had. We have place mats and coasters throughout the flat including the lounge and kitchen. However, we do not encourage hot pans being taken from the cooker onto the work surfaces or table due to health and safety. Property Owner

Sat there every day and night watching the wildlife and scenery. Visited Morar Hotel, The Marina Cafe,The Crofters Rest,Sound Bites and the Cabin fish and chip shop for eating, all did a marvellous job. Thanks again Karen,Joe, Robert,Mary and Charlie.

  • "We wanted a relaxed holiday in a quiet spot and this was perfect."

There was plenty to do in the area and we went to Mallaig several times for boat trips, to Skye, Rum and Knoydart. We also got the train to Fort William from the local station. The flat was very comfortable and clean, and well equipped. We appreciated the welcome pack including biscuits and teabags. We were originally not sure about the shower which, due to the height of the ceiling, meant that you couldn’t stand up, but found that there was a seat area in the bath and this enabled us to sit on it and use the hand held shower, which was quite powerful so that it wasn’t really an issue. The views from the dining area were stunning and we loved seeing the deer early morning and in the evening. A great holiday. • "Brilliant location for exploring this part of Scotland."

The accomodation was comfortable and well equipped. A lovely welcome pack of essential drinks and biscuits was waiting in the kitchen, and milk in the fridge. The window looking out onto the Loch was a constant draw. Having read earlier reviews we were prepared for the cosy corner bath and shower. The only downside (if you're a female of a certain age) is the plastic covering on the mattresses as they made you sweat. Otherwise would highly recommend and would definately book again.

Thank you for your feedback, and we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. However we are sorry to hear one of your party were uncomfortable during the night. The waterproof protector is essential, as unfortunately the quilted protector on top will not prevent leakages onto the mattress. There is a fan provided for warmer evenings so we look forward to seeing you in the future. Property Owner

. deers, lambs, calves doing zombies all while having a brew. Even had the delight of a family of pine martins in the roof space so got to see mum in front of the window a few times, what a privilege. Nature at its best, easy access to Skye via the ferry, great beaches near by, even Harry Potters steam train running through the village. Flat was clean, comfortable and everything I needed and more. Can’t wait to go again. Fab hosts as well and always happy to help.. can’t get anywhere better for the nature lover.

Thank you for your comments and we are pleased you enjoyed your holiday and we look forward to you returning. Unfortunately the pine martens will only be with us until the end of June. Property Owner

No complaints but a few observations to help improve for others and my probable next visit. There were no tea spoons, the wine bottle opener was useless and host should maybe consider a fixed shower, Oh and most importantly, if the host owns the garden, please please take a saw to those two conifers in the garden!! they are obscuring 50% of a fantastic view across Loch Morar. • "Cooinda Flat is located above the owners own property but has its own separate entrance."

It is set back slightly from a quiet road next to Cooinda Cottage. There is a washing machine and dryer on the “ground” floor as you enter then stairs to the flat. As others have pointed out, the roof is sloping so those of taller stature might have an issue (and a sore head) by the end of their stay. The three bedrooms are a good size, though the beds aren’t the most comfortable and the furniture is beginning to show its age. The views from the living room window are stunning and there is a deer family that regularly visits the field nearby. The bathroom let’s the property down as the corner bath is under the sloping roof so it’s virtually impossible to stand and have a shower and is difficult for older people to get in and out of. A rethink of the layout might help. There was however plenty of hot water for a bath. There is parking in front of the Flat and cottage as well as directly outside in the street. Mallaig is 2.5 miles away with tourist shops and tea rooms as well as a small Co-operative Shop with all the basics for self catering as there is no shops in Morar itself. Mike (the owner) popped round at the start of the stay to say hello. If you’re looking for a base on which to travel over to Skye on the ferry, Cooinda flat is perfect.

  • "The apartment was ideal for our holiday over looking Loch Morar."

It had everything we required to enable us to self cater in the evening. I would comment that as with most self catering units the cookery knives whilst they look nice in their block are not up to the basic job they are designed for i .e. being sharp enough to cut the produce. My only other comment and this is personal, the corner bath and shower head are through necessity fitted in the bathroom corner with a sloping ceiling I found difficult to access through not being able to bend my knees sufficiently.. Mike the owner is a charming and attentive host and I think Cooinda is ideal and I would. recommend it to friends and relatives as the perfect base for this area of Scotland. Another bonus is that the railway station is a ten minute walk away enabling you to visit Mallaig and Fort William without using the car.

  • "The only pity is it's such a long way to get here."

The owner Mike was very helpful on arrival. The flat is spacious especially as there were only two of us. Location is fabulous ….The view ! constantly changing over the Loch......The walks..... The almost tame deer....Oh and the beaches, especially the coast road between Morar and Asisaig !!... and if you want to do the train ride from the village to Fort William the ordinary train has the same views and is much cheaper than the Jacobite (they share the same line). The road journey between Fort William and Morar/Mallaig is one stunning view after another so if you're the driver doing the same journey by train makes up for what you might miss even though you are tempted to stop every few hundred yards to take photos. We had mixed weather but it didn't detract from anything.

It is not a stand-up shower, rather a bath with a shower hose at lower than waist height. So it difficult for our parents to manoeuvre comfortably to bathe. Other than that, top place.
