Dunvegan Castle Holiday Cottages
Dunvegan 0.5 miles. These two charming cottages, one a whitewashed stone cottage and one a stone-built cottage, are situated privately in the grounds of the world-famous Dunvegan Castle on the magical Isle of Skye. They provide the perfect location for a getaway holiday, where you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the castle’s formal gardens and the beauty of Loch Dunvegan. Both cottages ooze a smart, traditional charm with contemporary facilities and a bit of history for good measure! Surrounded by mature, deciduous trees and set close to Loch Dunvegan, both cottages provide the perfect base for exploring the grounds of this impressive castle. The ancestral home of Clan MacLeod and still the official home of the MacLeod Chief, Dunvegan Castle is said to be one of the oldest inhabited castles in Scotland. With an abundance of fascinating history to indulge on, you can enjoy a short walk through the castle grounds, imagining the moments and events that have taken place over the past eight centuries. The beautiful gardens can lead you to the pick-up point for the boat trip on Loch Dunvegan where you can observe a seal colony at close quarters, or perhaps charter one of their traditional clinker boats. The village of Dunvegan itself has good local services and The Old School Restaurant, providing tasteful and delicious food using fresh local produce, is well worth a visit. With so much to do so close by, it is a fantastic base for the adventurer; you mustn’t forget to explore all the other delights that the mystical island has to offer, including fishing, hill walking, sightseeing and touring. Guests can also take a pleasant walk from these lovely cottages to the Coral Beach, one of the most beautiful coastal locations on Skye. The Island has much to offer and the wildlife is simply amazing; look out for sea eagles, otters, deer and so much more! These wonderful cottages are set in a truly magical location and one that will linger long in the memory, for both adults and children alike.

About the location
Portree 22 miles.
The village of Dunvegan is set in the north west of Skye and contains a mixture of traditional stone and modern houses, along with a selection of shops and hotels. About a mile from the village is Dunvegan Castle, home to the Clan MacLeod, who have continuously occupied the castle since the 13th Century. Also in the area are the Cullin Mountains with their fantastic rock forms and pinnacles, which many climbers would put at the top of their list. Other attractions on the Isle are plentiful - visit the Talisker Distillery or Portree, the island’s only town, set around its natural harbour, which boasts an excellent range of shops, hotels and restaurants, and also offers Sea Eagle trips from the pier, which are extremely popular.
