About the location

Dunvegan

Portree 22 miles.

The village of Dunvegan is set in the north west of Skye and contains a mixture of traditional stone and modern houses, along with a selection of shops and hotels. About a mile from the village is Dunvegan Castle, home to the Clan MacLeod, who have continuously occupied the castle since the 13th century, and are said to have had dealings with the "wee folk" at the Fairy Bridge. Also in the area are the Cullin Mountains with their fantastic rock forms and pinnacles, which many climbers would put at the top of their list. Other attractions on the Isle are plentiful - visit the Talisker Distillery or Portree, the islandís only town, set around its natural harbour, which boasts an excellent range of shops, hotels and restaurants, and also offers Sea Eagle trips from the pier, which are extremely popular.

The cottage was spotless, it was also lovely and warm. Glendale itself was a great location, with plenty of walks and places to visit nearby. Will certainly keep this cottage in mind for future breaks. Five stars from me.

Mr Grubb, Kirkcaldy, October 2013

Directions to the cottage was perfect. The cottage was lovely, and spotlessly clean. Nice décor throughout, nothing missing we had all we needed. A selection of DVDs, books and information for visiting Skye. Nice view of the surrounding countryside, very peaceful. Would recommend and would hope to go back in the future. Thank you to the owner for a lovely stay.

Mrs Fehilly, Lanark, August 2013

The cottage was cosy, comfortable and clean. The area was peaceful. Lots of interesting places to visit by car and on foot. People are very friendly. Welcoming staff at the Red Roof Cafe in Glendale. Portree is lovely, as are the castle grounds at Dunvegan and Armadale.

Mrs Nicholls, Melksham, August 2013

The accommodation and the area that it is located in provided just what we needed.

Mr Sloan, Cheadle, June 2013
