The garden area is totally dog proof as our 2 proved. Kath and I would highly recommend this jewel to anyone wanting a quiet and restful place to re-charge the batteries. Thanks Mo.

It was warm, comfortable and very clean - the underfloor heating makes it very cozy. The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed. The drying rack in the bathroom was very useful for drying wet outdoors kit! The location was convenient, it is down a quiet lane so no road noise, but is only a short drive onto the main road and very close to Fort William. It is very dog friendly with an enclosed garden space at the front and the dog biscuits left on arrival were a lovely touch. The owners are very welcoming and Moira was really helpful in recommending local places to go. The owners live above the property so you can hear some movement at times. Overall I would certainly recommend this as somewhere to stay and definitely hope to return.

Watching the birds feeding was brilliant from the window, I personally found it very therapeutic and hypnotic, I could’ve watched them all day. The location is fantastic, the walks nearby were great for us and our 2 little dogs. We are not ardent hill walkers or climbers, we just appreciate all the scenery that this area of the Highlands offers. Glen Nevis and the mountains are the main draw, but there are so many journeys nearby within a couple of hours or less that are outstanding by car, the journey between Fort William and Mallaig is literally draw dropping, with lots of wildlife seen including deer, mountain goats etc, and popping over to the Cairngorms or Pitlochry are great too, this journey past the dam is another beautiful route to travel. Mo the owner is one of the most welcoming hosts we’ve ever come across, and we were made to feel very welcome from the moment of booking, right through to arriving. Just can’t express our gratitude enough for a wonderful 7 days, in a wonderful location surrounded by wonderful scenery, and a wonderful kind host. Highly recommend

  • "Really not impressed."

It is day 3 of being woken up by the owners dogs running like a herd of elephants over the top. It is 3am and I have been woken yet again after coming here to escape the London noise. You should mention the lack of sound proofing and extremely noisy neighbor. I am consequently not enjoying my stay and I am beginning to get unwell from sleep deprivation. The other night we were woken at 12am and I was rudely awoken in the morning the day before. It is absolutely not acceptable. How will you compensate me for lost holiday time?

The cottage is up a quiet road ( but not too far ) .and is a bit of a sun trap providing you get the sun which we did for most of the week .It's the luck of the draw as these things have to be booked a long way in advance.Fort William is just 5 minuets away by car ,We did Malaig twice ,once to take the ferry to Skye and then a bus ride to Portree although this is a very limited service. You can take your car but you must book on this route or be disappointed. We also had a very good meal ( at pub prices ) at the Crofter's bar and restaurant in Fort William .again book or you might find yourself hungry and in a queue..We enjoyed a walk to the river from the cottage ,take a sandwich and drink ,there is one picnic table .We found the cottage had everything that you would need for a holiday,The bed was very comfortable and the shower invigorating.everthing worked and the owner is on site if you have any quire's or problems .Off street parking as well..Oh and there is the commando memorial at Spein Bridge ,take five minutes to peruse the memorial garden.that generation gave so much!

There was also tea coffee and milk so if you hadn't packed it yourself you could have a brew before unpacking. The garden flat was bigger than I thought it would be. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 labradors. Kitchen had everything you needed, including a slow cooker. It also had a nice enclosed courtyard garden with views of the Nevis range. Torlundy is at the base of the north face approach to Ben Nevis, if you like climbing, so very handy. There are several lower level walks in the area too. There's no shops in the area so you have to drive into Fort William if you want anything. Moira the owner was very nice, asking if we'd had a nice day and what we'd enjoyed. Overall we had a nice comfortable week.

The property

Fort William 3 miles.

A pretty little gem of a cottage forming part of the owner’s house yet totally private.

Situated in a secluded spot, with its own parking space and private courtyard garden, this neat, well-presented cottage is ideal for a couple, whether it be a romantic week, a honeymoon or simply a much needed get-away-from-it-all break.

With the accommodation all on ground floor level there is a spacious open plan living area with well-equipped kitchen, dining table and sitting space with comfortable chairs and views out through the double doors to the garden.

A generously proportioned double bedroom is situated just off the living space and to the rear is a bright shower room complete with power shower and a pulley for drying clothes.

The small private garden is a bit of a sun trap and with its seating areas is a great place to enjoy some outside dining whilst enjoying the views to the north face of Ben Nevis.

Torlundy is a handy location being just a short drive into the vibrant town of Fort William with its excellent range of facilities, including a distillery!

As one would expect this is a cyclist and walker’s paradise but of course the impressive Nevis Range is very close by and ideal for both climbers and skiers!

However, the area is wonderful for touring and exploring and guests should follow the famous Road to the Isles westwards through Glenfinnan and onto Mallaig where the ferry crosses to the Isle of Skye.

Perhaps take the road south through Fort William and visit atmospheric Glencoe and its visitor centre, a great day out!

Whatever you do, this area offers so much and this sweet and homely cottage makes a holiday in the highlands unforgettable.
