Everything we needed was there, it was in the most perfect setting and definitely a place I would love to return to and we will recommend to all our friends.

  • "The property was not clean, cooker was rusty as was the washing machine, bathroom ceiling peeling, very remote!"

!! New electric heating was not up to heating the cottage thankfully had a couple of eletric nursery heaters . Fire grate was cracked and raw edges so watch a small child. It was not a washer dryer, take a measuring jug with you as the ins there tiny. Sadly the place needs a lot of TLC we left early due to a medical emergency of which nhs Scotland were fabulous. We had packed ready to go on the Thursday . Think twice if you have little ones & elderly folk or some one with health issues as the main hospital is at least 45 minutes by car if your lucky and 4 hours drive to Inverness if you need specialist treatment.

If we had been told about any of the issues raised while you were in the cottage we would have done our utmost to resolve them as I believe was demonstrated in our coordinating all the arrangements regarding the delivery and uplift of the specialist equipment you requested.I hope your health has improved and I am glad to hear you appreciated all the excellent medical care provided in our remote area. From the lovely phone call with Rosemary prior to our arrival, to the lovely treats upon arrival. The cottage has everything you need. We had rainy days where we could hunker down and enjoy the coziness of the cottage, and also beautiful sunny days where we enjoyed evenings outside in the beautiful surroundings. We especially loved sitting outside to enjoy the amazing blue moon. We are already planning our next holiday and won’t hesitate to book again. Our three children have fallen in love with Skye as much as we have.

  • "We loved our stay in Uig!"

The cottage was beautiful and comfortable. Rosemary had everything we needed for our stay and was super kind and welcoming! Coffee, tea, bread, milk, and boxes of tissue were there for us. The countryside around the home was gorgeous. The one bathroom was a little difficult with 5 of us adult women there, and the water temperature was very unstable, but we made it work! Also, the upstairs got quite hot at night. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here! But the directions to get here are tricky. Look for the owner's name on the gate, which might be open and hard to see, especially at night. The long driveway (with the gate) is on the right side of the road before the dirt road begins (don't go down the dirt road!).

It is so peaceful with fabulous views from the windows. Inside there is everthing you need for a truly relaxing, comfortable holiday. The furnishings are of good quality and most importantly for someone with a bad back the beds are very comfortable. We had lovely weather all week, but on the cooler evening the log fire was wonderful and made for a very relaxing evening after a long day of hiking. The owner is lovely, we contacted her a week before arrival and she gave us clear and helpful advise about the cottage. On arrival there was milk in the fridge and shortbread and bread buns on the side, which was a lovely touch so we could have a cuppa after our long journey. We will definitely be back and would recommend the cottage to friends and family looking for a relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

  • "We had a really lovely stay at Totescore."

The cottage is really cosy, clean and well-equipped. Beds and sofas were comfy. My main comment would be that the shower isn't very powerful (but it was still fine). There was a good TV with sky/netflix etc as well as DVDs and a book shelf for rainy weather. Internet was good and although mobile phone reception was limited we were kindly invited to use the landline so were able to make any urgent calls that we needed to. The location is very peaceful - a bit isolated (although Uig is a 5 min drive and has a very well-stocked local shop) but great for visiting the Quiraing. It was a little bit of a trek to get to southern-most parts of the island but definitely doable. Our host was lovely - we had a call in advance of our arrival to share information and welcome biscuits etc. All-in-all I would definitely recommend 6 Totescore to anyone looking for accommodation in the Trotternish area.

Sky TV is an old sky box not connected to a phoneline with limited freeview channels. The TV is old and volume increases and decreases on its own. BT Internet reception is intermittent where there is no service for hours. As 3G reception is poor then its only the TV for company. No starter kit for fire which is part of the listing but we left some for next travellers, 3/4 of a bag left by us. Shower becomes temperamental and stopped working then no hot water. Had to turn hot water tank off at wall a few times until light on switch came on. Cant open bathroom window so bathroom steams up. No heating between bathroom and living room so it's a chilly walk through the doors. Not a single book, game or dvd in the cottage as mentioned in listing but there is a book of things to do or a guest book to sign. Thought maybe Covid19 related but how can you have a book of things to do and instructions but no books to read as both is touched and hence the late check-in of 4.30 to properly clean it. Cobwebs in all rooms at ceiling height, dead spiders and a bath towel with oil on it. Bottle of milk which was open in fridge dated next day even though instructions state empty fridge and leave cottage as you expect it. We cleaned that cottage for next travellers and hoovered even though someone goes in to make it up for next traveller. Woke up to a loud bang one morning to find a 4x4 parked over by the shed, I expected privacy not strangers letting themselves in especially as its a safety issue with children. Outside light on corner is faulty so only light at door. Certainly not worth the rental price of the stay and I wouldn't pay it again. Its a lovely a cottage in a tranquil setting but when occupied visitors shouldn't be coming and going, whoever does the cleaning isn't doing it when there's Cobwebs and dead spiders. The photos on the listing doesn't reflect the cottage. The enclosed garden has been forgotten about and everything looked dead. My garden is alive in October but this looked dead. The facilities were good, kitchen well stocked with pots etc, bedding was clean, towel was covered in oil but folded in double bedroom ready for use. The fire was cosy but no wood. We stayed at a cottage in Hunglader 3 years ago, the heating was on, a welcome pack provided, spotlessly clean, smart tv so we could get entertainment, books, dvds, games all available so maybe our expectations are in comparison to that which was half the cost of this cottage. Next visit to Skye will be back to Hunglader at Beith cottage opposite Skye museum.

I am sorry to hear of the problems experienced. Some are due to geography and being in a remote and rural area the internet can fluctuate at times . This was raised with BT who stated yesterday it has improved the signal. TV signal is also affected by the location but a new HD tv is being installed today. The shower may have been affected by water pressure and was thoroughly investigated by a qualified tradesman yesterday. There are logs in a large log pile outside. Apologies if this was not made clear. All books and games were removed due to Covid rules but these will be replaced soon. I am very surprised to hear there were cobwebs as our housekeeper is very thorough. In an old property they can appear overnight. I have never seen "mould" in the property but this will be investigated today. Autumn gales play havoc with gardens in the islands but it can be a very restful spot in fine weather. The house is on a working croft as stated and the crofter may need access to the shed occasionally. I appreciate the frustration of being indoors when internet is affected and the weather is bad. I hope you were able to enjoy some of the beauty and grandeur of our wonderful island. Property Owner
