Location: Poolewe, Wester Ross

Dingwall 50 miles.

The pretty village of Poolewe sits in the shelter of Loch Ewe, at the mouth of the River Ewe where it tumbles down from Loch Maree. It is a pretty place in an area of spectacular scenery and is home to a well-stocked shop, small swimming pool and two hotels. The world-renowned Inverewe Garden (National Trust) is half a mile across the bay from the village. The site was developed by the botanist Osgood Mackenzie from 1862 until his death in 1922. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, it is home to exotic plants, imported from all over the world – a must for all visitors to the area. North east along the coast is Gruinard Bay with its striking red sands; a series of attractive beaches skirt the bay and a number are easily reached from the main road. With spectacular scenery, mountains, excellent hillwalking, golf, fishing and much more, this is a great area for a holiday!

Lovely setting beside the loch and good standard of property.
Dr Ward, Kendal, September 2012

Location was excellent, the house had all we needed for our holiday, the access to the beach was very good and having 2 televisions kept the young ones happy.
Mr Hosking, Cupar, August 2012

The house was very clean, comfortable and beautifully presented. The situation of the home was amazing. On several occasions our kids were able to see a seal from the house - a very fun bonus. They loved the sheep in the neighbouring paddock as well.
Mrs Scott, July 2012
